Good article. I think that lightening network will greatly improve transaction time and reduce fees and if bitcoin is to be adopted as means of payment by retail stores they will only accept confirmed transactions. Still long way to go. There are also shortcomings, but any improvement on transaction time and cost I see as a good thing and a start for further development.
