Arweave is going to End Plagiarism

Arweave is developing the blockweave and aims to use this development to dominate the data storage market. The blockweave makes it possible to create a permanent, verifiable storage of data at a low cost.

Being low-cost isn’t enough to have the market adopt a product. So Arweave incentivizes miners to share data with each other and this allows for high through-put. While being low-cost and offering a fast network is a powerful offering, it is actually something else that Arweave’s team has done that will likely lead to wide-swept and quick adoption of the technology.

REST APIs for Developers

Convenience is a big factor in anything’s adoption. Being fast and low-cost is great, but as I explained in my previous blog, Arweave wants to decentralize the data storage and sharing market. Arweave wants to end censorship and put people in control of their data and making an open network for the data market makes this a realistic possibility. Arweave’s team have already REST APIs for developers.

The best part about the APIs is that they allow a level of convenience that is rare among the blockchain space. Developers can build on top the of blockweave through any language they desire. This makes Arweave’s development easy to adopt. Arweave’s low-cost and speed factors make it a good development and the ease of developing on top of the blockweave make it adoptable.

It’s an impressive sign that applications are already in development even though the mainnet has not launched yet. This shows that developers not only like the development but are actually eager to utilize it. Since Arweave is targeting the $3 trillion data storage industry, its ability to offer a cheap way to permanently store data will have many uses.

A really impressive use of Arweave would be towards usage in academia. This could ease the ability to check scientific references used in new publications, making it easier than ever to verify the accuracy and authenticity of new publications. It also makes it easier for researchers to reflect on previous works. Scientific works from centuries ago are still valuable and the works of today will be valuable for centuries to come. So for one part, Arweave would make it easier for researchers to develop new hypotheses and supporting them by easily referencing and verifying past works.

On the other hand, it will also allow for the ability to authenticate new works in the overall scholarly publication market. Arweave is going to make it possible to permanently store data that scientists could refer to forever. This ensures that researches are not able to plagiarize others’ materials. While it may seem amusing that an Education Minister was caught plagiarizing long after his publication had been approved, the reality is a big problem. This man was able to unjustifiably get positions he had not earned, and possibly he may not have been qualified for them. This is not a unique occurrence, the German Defense Minister also had to resigned due to plagiarism. source

The example of two German ministers having plagiarized just highlights just how wide swept the problem could be. Many of the references in scientific publications are hard to verify but not Arweave is offering a permanent, open, and verifiable storage of this data.

Soon plagiarism could be a problem of the past. And along with it, many other problems in other industries will also be resolved due to the innovative solution offered by Arweave.
