Blockshipping Tracks Shipping Containers

in #bitcoin6 years ago (edited)

Even since I was a kid, I have been amazed by the huge steel containers that are stacked at shipping docks. Those containers are so important to shipping and there are over 28 million of them in the world. Think about how big this number is. There are more containers on Earth than there are people in all Scandinavian countries combined. Of course it must take a lot of fuel to move these containers. But here's the funny part, a fifth of all the containers out there are not accounted for properly. So often, the containers we see moved around on massive ships or trucks could possibly be empty. Yes, there's fuel being burned to move around nothing!

Even though so much fuel is being wasted, shipping companies face a lot of pressure from environmental agencies. It's odd that despite the pressure, so much energy is being wasted for moving around empty containers. Maybe some of the reason for empty containers being moved around is carelessness, but the main culprit is lack of technology to properly track these containers.

Track Containers with Blockshipping

Blockshipping's Global Shared Container Platform has a lot of features. One of them is that it will use IoT and blockchain to help shipping companies keep track of containers. The blockchain will give an immutable record of which container is empty or only partially full and the IoT technology will show exactly where these containers are.

Shipping containers are massive and heavy so it takes monstrous machines to move the massive containers. These monstrous machines guzzle down large amounts of fuel that harms thr environment. The shipping companies have an easy solution to calm the pressure from environmental agencies. They are burning unnecessary fuel on empty containers. Blockshipping is here to give them the technology to know which containers don't need to be transported and this will help shipping companies cut down on fuel costs without having to change any of its business or lose any clients.

It's funny how easy the solution to a huge industry's problem is. But there are just so many containers out there and we only now have the technology needed to properly track them. Blockchain and IoT will help shipping companies easily cut down on unnecessary carbon emissions.
