Fair trade products are great. If you have to pay a little extra to make sure the person who had made that food can have a good life and can raise kids properly, it's definitely worth it. But we live in a very greedy world and there is no shortage of cons. Because fair trade food sells at a higher price, there have been cases where certain companies falsely stated their products as fair trade.

Making up a lie to help people is probably one of the most disgusting come out there. But the truth is that for now we just take labels for word. When we see a statement saying organically sourced, hand batches, or even fair trade, we don't have the ability to actually verify this. We just expect every company is simply being honest about this. I too just take labels for word and It's not that I am being too maybe, I only have the option of believing whatever is said on packaging.

Verify Labels

When food suppliers will use SmartContainers, the location of the food will be recorded on the blockchain and the IoT technology will make it possible to see whether the good really is coming from organic, fair trade, or any other specific certified farms or plantations.

Companies that honestly use fair trade food supply would be sure to convey to customers that they can verify the food source. This will bring legitimacy to the labels that we see at stores. We won't have to just take labels for word since we could actually verify the source. And if the source of goods from one company could not be verified, we would have the option to just pick the companies that let us verify the source.
