I need $3000. Who wants to help?
Few days ago i ran into a individual that was a medium size stake holder on STEEM. @socky.
We discussed a few topics i wrote about, i liked his insights and that prompted me to check out his blog. I found something there that i found interesting.
He started a campaign where he tries to find as many users that would give a witness vote to the witness that gets STEEM listed on a major exchange.
At the moment of my post he rounded up 872,337,030 VESTS.

Im not sure anyone has taken advantage of that yet.
So i browsed around a bit. Looked at some exchanges. Joined a few telegrams, sent a few emails, facebook messages, DMs... All the stuff someone other then me should be doing, considering how little stake i have.
I found a few smaller exchanges that might be interested in adding STEEM (ill look into that once they respond), but i found 1 larger one that could list STEEM.
Its daily volume isnt Binance levels but at 200 mil. its not too bad. :)
Its important to stress that i dont know if STEEMIT.INC tried it already and were rejected nor am i sure if someone else tried it.
From what ive seen the price of a listing is fairly low, according to the admin i talked to.
0.8 BTC (around 3000 USD) + management cost.
Ofc. its important to state that getting STEEM listed isnt as simple as paying $3000. Theres a whole process involved and time will have to be spent.
If we tied that 3000 USD fee into the @socky campaign that promises 872,337,030 VESTS for a listing on a major exchange (Enter Bitfinex), could it be worthwhile for, lets say, a witness that wants to move up into the top 20 to drop 3000 USD for a listing? Not only to go up the witness ladder, but to do something extremely positive for the STEEM blockchain that could benefit that witness far beyond the VESTS.
EDIT: Ive been getting conflicting info from verified admins. Few quotes claim no fees, just management cost, DMs with admins talk differing numbers. Will update once i have more info.

I would consider Bitfinex a major exchange. The witness would likely become a liaison for the exchange to support them in answering questions about operating the STEEM software for their node or to remind them that they need to update to a new version of the software.
I'm also hoping that the RocksDB will happen soon to drive down node requirements so exchanges would not have that burden.
An option is to start a fundation to collect the required listing fee.
@socky, certainly Bitfinex is a major exchange. They insist that new accounts must a minimum equity of $10k to start an account there. I also found them to be more security conscious than most other major exchanges.

I agree fundition could help, it's going to take more than the inflation pool to reach $3000. I'll contribute a small amount of liquid Steem if there's more interest...
I filled up the listing proposal, added Steemit.inc info as requested since i had to provide some info. Company address, company reg.number, etc.
Exchanges tend to be shy about the listing fees but apparently 2 months ago Bitfinex and Bittrex removed/reduced listing fees.
Anyways, ill give them a few days to respond before i press them a bit more. If it is 3k as the admins told me i think it can be collected fairly easily.
Ill poke a bit more.
