Being a Digital Nomad and Bitnation

Bitnation is tailor made for Digital Nomads

Bitnation if you don't know what it is, is a for profit governance services platform. It is in essence "Sovereignty as a Service". In fact Bitnation is the first ever attempt at Sovereignty as a Service. This means if you're a digital nomad you are in the unique position to leverage for the full benefits the services Bitnation has to offer. If you live a location independent lifestyle, if you work remotely, but you still require governance services while you're in a foreign country where you barely can communicate? Bitnation in my opinion has something to offer here because currently it's really the only platform of it's kind.

While being a Digital Nomad is awesome, can Bitnation make it even more awesome?

In my previous post I blogged about how being a digital nomad is awesome. I listed some of the rules (really only 3 main rules) which are going to be listed again below:

  • Follow the rules and social norms of the location you're in.
  • Try to learn the language (for your own benefit).
  • Post and share your knowledge (for the benefit of the world).

Bitnation and the Digital Nomad lifestyle have a synergy. That synergy between this is based on the fact that when you're in a foreign country you are going to first not know who you can trust. Bitnation offers a unique reputation system so that anywhere you go in the world you can "in theory" find a friendly person whom you can trust. On some level Steem has a reputation system but the reputation system of Bitnation is a bit more comprehensive, deeper, and it is based on a concept called "The Exocortex". The Exocortex in the Bitnation context is Lucy, and in the first implementation it will function as a "shared memory". It will allow all who interact with and transact over Bitnation to have a means of reviewing, rating, and discovering reputation (both their own and everyone else's).

Bitnation will have an app store and from this app store the digital nomad will be able to select governance services. Depending on what you need and your situation you may need more or less governance services. For instance, if you are completely stateless or if you've recently renounced your citizenship then you may be desperate for governance services. If you're also in a situation where you're in a foreign country and you don't really trust the quality of service that the local government is offering, then Bitnation could be offering services of a higher quality. In these instances it is clear that Bitnation could have a high utility (private governance services).

Summary

  • Bitnation and Digital Nomad lifestyle are synergistic.
  • Digital Nomads will have a great need for services which can solve the trust problem (and language/cultural barriers).
  • Digital Nomads who have renounced citizenship are in a position to embrace the full services of Bitnation, as they are starting completely from scratch (think Roger Verr for instance).

Bitnation can also be seen as Decentralized Borderless Voluntary Nation (DBVN). With Bitnation we are offered Bitnation Blockchain Public Notary, Bitnation Refugee Emergency Response (BRER). With Bitnation there will be a different style of government in which sovereignty will be giving to the people which is unlike the present day experience.

These are some of the knowledge I have about Bitnation and reading through this post, I feel more enlightened. Thanks

Exactly, you answered it.

I believe, a link to this bitnation would be handy here. Besides, does one's citizenship matter here?

What are the advantages for foreigners?

If you are a foreigner in a new country you probably have to deal with language barriers, you probably have little to no social wealth in that country, you probably have a difficult time finding work or just figuring out how to live, you may be in need of government services which blockchain tech can in many cases provide more effectively than the local government.

First time hearing about this tbh... but i see some problems, at least in the current modern society, will the government allow this? Will the government allow people that are part of bitnation but have no citizenship to enter their country? How can you know if someone is trustworthy, they would have to be in x country to actually get reputation from other people...

I find the idea good, but i still see it as quite a stretch to be implemented in nowadays society, let's just wait and see :)

Going to do more research about this project!

Which government? Bitnation is global. So if you are a digital nomad and your government doesn't allow it you can simply leave your government by renouncing citizenship. Or you can travel outside the jurisdiction of your government and it's services. In for example Asia you may need services and your government will not be in a position to provide certain services due to the fact that your local government is geographic. Bitnation is digital.

It is true that there is a competitor attitude between Bitnation and nation states. The competition is in providing better services (in theory). There is the chance that what works in theory will not work in practice but the only way to find out is to try. Anarchists who believe in DIY governance now have a means of trying.

You are 100% right!! At least now they have a chance to actually try, trying it the first step too success, if someone never tries he can never achieve anything.

Absolutely. Most c
Governments promote how good the relationships are among nations but in reality the things are nasty.

It's important to accept the limitations and act wisely at the time of need

Wow never knew something like this existed. As a traveller in heart I often pick places and then spend time evaluating all the scenarios where I can go wrong cos f language barriers.

If they cater to digital nomads I wonder why they prohibit US citizens from participating in the token sale event. Given many Americans have gone nomad seems leaving them out of the ICO will hurt the raise.

They are required to by law. US Citizens who renounce citizenship can participate but then they aren't a US Citizen. The law doesn't have to be and often is not reasonable.
