People who think that energy consumption directly equals destruction of the planet have not applied their critical thinking to the matter. What is the cheapest energy? Are we wasting energy energy today? How does the grid work? Whats the value of security from PoW?

The first point is 100% happening, the second is yet to be seen and is not 100% certain. Plus, when there are already more decentralized tech pathways that can scale much better and are sustainable, we should be focusing on those

2016: rub her butt and feed her pizza
2017: make memes of her butt and invest in cryptocurrency so you can buy her more pizza
2018: cash out your stock in bitcoin and go on a diet altogether
