All about the Steem now....
I recently started a Power Down to free up some resource to help pay off a BitCny Margin loan I took out like a year ago. My original intent was to basically short it, then take profit as it went lower. The trade went against me and was kind of in an investment instead.
I used powered down Steem tokens through the Rudex exchange to buy BitCny. It turns out that transfering directly to Rudex via their gateway saves you $ compared to using blocktrades.
I also traded the BitCny:Bts pair to earn Bitshares to help pay off the loan.
The latest dump in Bitshares price drove a run in the BitCny:Bts pair that I profited from and finally paid off the pesky loan.
My plan moving forward is to continue trading the BitCny:Bts pair and exchange gained BTS for Steemit to build up the account again.

Definitely build the steem. It's worth it in the long run.
I honestly go back and forth between fully investing in Steem and waiting for the EOS based social media platform that will compete.
