Welcome to the 82nd Bitshares State of the Network (BSotN) report. A weekly report focusing on the changes in the ecosystem and track longer term changes in a effort to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares platform.

The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.

Observation from this week

This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.

• The 2018 Global Graphene Blockchain Development Conference has successfully concluded in Shanghai. With over 40 speakers and over 1000 attendees from all over the world this conference was a massive success! The event was organized by teams from BlockGeek and GDEX who did an amazing job with the venue and organisation of the speakers and guests. Thank you to Jerry Liu (Bitcrab) and everyone involved in making this an amazing event! It is definitely a milestone to be proud of. • Annemieke Dirkes announced the launch of the Graphene Foundation which has been founded as a Dutch Non-Profit Organisation (Website: graphene.community). The foundation will have 3 key representatives which are divided geographically. Alfredo Garcia (@oxarbitrage) will represent USA, Fabian Schuh (@Xeroc) for Europe and a China representative to be announced.

• Annemieke Dirkes announced the upcoming BitFest conference to be held on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of September 2018 in Amsterdam. You can find more information about the event HERE

• eXeBlock has announced Development of Bitcoin Payment Sidechain that will allow all Bitcoin owners direct access to the Company’s Graphene based decentralized applications. eXeBlock has invested nearly 1,000 hours in programmer and development time on the sidechain, which is nearing completion. • Hungarian Cryptocurrency Foundation has announced the launch of Nowcoin on the Bitshares blockchain, The NowCoin Market Game was invented to create a social ecosystem for Nowcoin, with holders motivated to enter and hold Nowcoin, and with merchants interested in supplying services to the network members in exchange for Nowcoin. • CryptoFresh the long running, original Bitshares block explorer has seen an infrastructure upgraded this week including a new high speed 512GB NVMe (non-volatile memory express) SSD for improved response time and performance. The migration to new hardware was completed on Tuesday. @Roadscape (Founder of CryptoFresh) has also been working on fork resolution code which is still being developed and tested but will eventually allow the block explorer to recover from forks automatically with the end goal to reduce administration and improve uptime for the service during edge cases such as fork’s on the chain . A majority of the data being used in these reports is sourced from CryptoFresh and @Roadscape has always been very supportive and responsive if I ever need any assistance with the data! I would like to extend a massive Thank you to Roadscape for running this valuable service for many years as a voluntary effort!

• @bitspark have released video coverage from their first Spark Graphene Meet Up held in Hong Kong on the 26th of April. Video from the introductory meetup can be found HERE

• The Beyond Bitcoin Bitshares weekly hangouts have now moved to the Discord platform. You can join the Bitshares Discord HERE and also catch the latest hangouts streamed live on YouTube HERE
