Greetings fellow Steemians! I am starting this Blackout Challenge to raise awareness of this style of poetry in the Steemit community. I invite and encourage all creative people to give it a try at some point in the 30 day time frame.
Blackout poetry is different from other styles of poetry. It is more like a word art puzzle. You find a piece of already written text - like a page from a book or a magazine article - and you blackout words till you form a poetic thought. It is fun and challenging!


There are a couple of rules to remember when doing this style of poetry.
1 - You can use words to create other words: this could be his or that could be hat, just remember to black out the letters that you are not using.
2 - You can't black out letters between words to form new words: barn cannot be ban and chair cannot be car. The word must be a formed word.
3 - The poem has to flow with the words as they're written in the text you are using. You can't 'borrow' a word from paragraph 2 because you need it for the line you are forming in paragraph 1. No jumping words around! Put your thinking cap on and make what you have work.
That's about it. I would really like to see at least a few of you give this a go and see what you come up with. Give it a try, have fun, and be creative. DAY 1

In a silk robe she came, stopped in her love
in beautiful rolls lost in afterglow.
Bemused or flattered, did any notice?
She corners someone to change this;
to confirm or connect her.
Telling the one a thought
she would start to be good.
