“Are you blessed?” “你幸福吗?”

When we meet one another, we use different questions to begin our conversation such as, “Have you eaten your meal?”, “Are you busy?”, “How is the weather?”. There is another question, and it is, “Are you blessed?”

This is a relevant question as most people like to be blessed irrespective of what background we have come from. Nevertheless, this question prompts us to look at our situation. It means that we need to ask ourselves whether we are blessed. Beside that, we need to define “blessing”. Some people may regard themselves as blessed because they have money, or to some others, “blessing” means having a good career or an ideal family or heathy body etc.

It is good to feel “blessed” and be thankful according to one’s definition of blessing. For many people, their perspective of blessing is related to what they have here and now. It means that as time passes by, it may fade away such as health, career etc. And even if such blessing may not go away, there may come a time we lose our ability to utilise such blessing such as money. In other words, there are people who could afford to buy delicious food but without appetite to eat, and those who have money to travel around the world but without the physical strength to do so.

In view of the above, what is blessing. When we are asked, “Are you blessed?”, it is a time to be grateful for what we have here and now. But it is also a time for us to explore the possibility of receiving a blessing that transcends what is here and now, such as eternal life. And we may also explore how to utilise what we have to be a blessing for others.

当我们见面时，我们会使用不同的问题来以开启对话，例如“你吃过饭了吗?”，”你忙吗?”，”天气怎么样?”。什至还有一个问安的问题，那就是，“你幸福吗?”

这是一个重要的问题，因为无论我们来自何种背景，大多数人都喜欢福气。然而，这个问题也能促使我们看看自己的情况。这意味着我们需要问问自己，“我是否真的幸福呢?” 除此之外，我们需要思想”福气”的含义。有些人可能认为自己有钱所以有福气，或者有些人则看”祝福”为拥有良好的职业或理想的家庭或健康的身体等。

根据一个人对于福气的定义，如果能感受“幸福”并感恩乃是件好事。对于许多人来说，他们所谓“有福”的是与自己现在所拥有的有关。这意味着随着时间的流逝，它可能会逐渐消失，即如健康、事业等等。即使这样的”祝福”可能不会消失，也有可能有时候我们自己巳经失去了使用”福气”的能力。换句话说，有些人有能力购买美味的食物，但却没有食欲，又有人可支付在世界各地旅行但却没有体力去做。

鉴于上述情况，到底什么是祝福呢？当我们被问到“你幸福吗?”，我们的确可以为现在能拥有的一切而心存感激；然而这问题也可以激发我们探索要如何获得超越现有的东西，即如永恒的生命及用现有的祝福他人。
