Crypto soccer is here!

You may have heard about a little sporting event being held in Russia this month. Well, it just got even better.

Long story short, some guys from Waves community have figured out a fun way to tokenise major events and allow people to enjoy something like a cross between sports and crypto trading.

They have created 32 tokens on the Waves platform, one for each team in the World Cup. A fifth of these tokens will be sold at a fixed price up until 13 June. (The price is determined by betting odds taken from open sources.) The stronger teams will cost more, naturally.

But after the tournament starts and the results are coming in? At that point, the initial odds no longer apply, and the remaining 80% of tokens for each team are sold at market prices. In other words, if a team that initially looked weak suddenly proves itself on the pitch, its price will rocket.

So the idea is: pick your favourite team and HODL until it goes to the moon – or buy another one on Waves DEX if you change your mind. You can trade your tokens at any point based on how you think your team is doing, just like trading crypto!
