CRYPTYK- A CLOUD BASED STORAGE SOLUTION FOR THE ENTERPRISE

Hello Everyone, so today I want to share this amazing project. But First, For most of you that are not familiar with what a cloud storage is, a cloud storage is simply a means whereby you store your data on remote facilities or servers and you can access those data anywhere at any time. Popular ones include Dropbox, Google drive, OneDrive etc. Cloud Storage services allows you to easily share files with friends and colleagues and well as collaborate on works and projects. Cloud storage servers are owned and maintained my cloud storage providers who make sure the service are up and running all year round. They charge customers/users a subscription fee annually most times depending on user’s preference for increased storage capacity.

The conventional cloud storage services are centralised. They are centralized in the sense that your data are stored on a central or private server on the web. This model of cloud computing although somewhat effective to some extent has its own Cons. One of which is that, should anything happen to the server where your files and data are stored, they might be compromised. They might be either become lost or hacked. I have personally lost some very important files back in 2014 due to the fact that my data storage location was compromised.

Now, a decentralized cloud storage service rather using a remote server for data storage (which is in itself an expensive means) makes uses of a network of computers or servers to store data. The data are stored in a series of computers in several locations across the web (a decentralized cloud) which are of course hosted and mostly owned by participating people or companies. Your files are protected by blockchain technology and are encrypted with a cryptographic technology which makes it safe from hackers (to some extent). In a decentralized cloud storage network, anyone can participate and join the network as a participating member contributing his/her unused disk space and earn cryptocurrency. The advantage of decentralized cloud storage system over the centralized one are enormous. One of which is reduced cost because multiple servers are being used and no single remote server is being maintained. The network can grow as more participant join the network offering their unused disk space(earning cryptocurrency for it). Also, the network is peer-to-peer, less computing power is required, the encryption of files prior to transmission and during storage provides a high level of data security amongst others.

This way it becomes very hard for external hackers to have access to your files.
In addition to this system of file sharing, CRYPTYK uses blockchain to monitor the entire process, from auditing to network access to determining which user(participant in the decentralized network) gets which data/file all in a bid to make the entire process as seamless as possible.
