The Internet is not an “industry”, it’s technology that disrupted all industries. “Blockchain will be the same, but bigger.”

Blockchain wouldn’t exist by itself without others. For this reason, I suggest a concept of ABCDEF to cover the scope of the work of blockchain.

A: AI and everything related to the physical world, including machine Learning, Internet of Things. The Blockchain is a trusted system, but the entire system becomes invalid if the blockchain doesn’t interact with the physical world properly.

B: Blockchain and other distributed ledger, which include both public blockchain such as Ethereum, EOS, NEO, and private blockchain such as Hyperledger, EEA. It also includes non-blockchain, like DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph with implementation like HashGraph or IOTA).

C: Cloud and everything related to the virtual world. Since the blockchain can only keep the records of transactions and the hash of the information, all the digital files such as images, document, videos would be stored in the cloud based storages or IPFS (interPlanetary File System). It also covers all the web services like AJAX, REST or other APIs

D: Data.It means all the source of the information feeding into the blockchain and its applications. The technologies include big data and data science.

E: Enterprise Applications or the applications in various industries, such as supply chain management, shipping industry, banking, insurance, healthcare, esport, entertainment.

F: FinTech. Financial Technology, the revolutionary change in the financial field. It include the cryptocurrencies, ICO, crypto funds and trading. We also need to study the impacts and mechanisms of cryptocurrencies or tokenomics.
