Introduction.png

Hello everybody and welcome to the latest Blocknet newsletter update of 2018! This newsletter is released twice per month to keep the community up to date on what is happening with Blocknet. You can view the previous newsletters here.

Highlights.png

  • “This is revolutionary". "Far reaching implications for the blockchain industry". "Blocknet on the brink of something massive!". These are just some of the comments that were made when Blocknet recently revealed its groundbreaking Blockchain router, XRouter. XRouter acts as an inter-blockchain SPV client (or “light wallet”) backend, enabling the verification of blockchain records from theoretically any blockchain without requiring users to download the blockchain in question. This empowers lightweight dapps to harness contracts and protocols from other blockchains, laying a foundation-stone for the decentralization of the API ecosystem. You can read more about XRouter, watch the live reveal and view a short demo in our in depth XRouter article here. As a result of this announcement, the article quickly became the 2nd most read article on our blog after only 7 days and Blocknet was covered on a wide variety of websites including Global Coin Report, Ethereum World News, Crypto Daily, Nasdaq and The Merkle. In addition, it was also covered on various Youtube channels such as Cryptopedia, Crypto Zombie, Brad’s Crypto & Chico Crypto. In short, the enthusiasm and reception from the cryptoworld for the XRouter announcement has been fantastic!
  • Blocknet has been shortlisted for Best Blockchain Technology Developer 2018 in the Standout Blockchain Achievement of 2018 category at “The Blocks” awards.

Each of these coins are supported on the Blocknet Protocol, making them ready for cross-blockchain dApps, and tradable on the Block DX Decentralized Exchange. We are announcing roughly one coin per day with the hashtag: #coinaday across our social media. The most recent recap of coin announcements that are ready for the internet of blockchains can be found here.

  1. Syscoin has created a powerful decentralized marketplace called Blockmarket, and when combined with the Blocknet's cross-blockchain protocol and the Block DX Decentralized Exchange, a whole new world of applications are possible. You can check out the interview here.
  2. Decred is creating an organizational platform any community can utilize. Through there powerful, on-chain, governing structure, all projects and communities could tap into their self governing capabilities through the Blocknet Protocol. We are excited to see where Decred goes as more blockchains and dApps have access to their technology through the Blocknet Protocol and Block DX Decentralized Exchange. You can check out the interview here.
  3. ZenCash is a privacy coin that is using their ZenCash Secure Nodes to create an empire of decentralized services. Through the vast amount of services they offer, we are excited to see how other cross-blockchain dApps can utilize their unique capabilities via the Blocknet Protocol. You can check out the interview here.

Community.png

  • A Community posting guide has been created for the community for the ongoing coin announcements. Feel free to run with it and help spread the word by posting, retweeting, upvoting and sharing each announcement with the respective communities on Reddit and BTCTalk. It only take a moment. Strength in numbers!
  • Social Media Team Guidelines are being created in congruence with the Blocknet Branding Guidelines. These guidelines will help unify the message and voice of the Social Media Teams around the world.

Proposals.png

  • There are 4 proposals submitted for Superblock 432000, including 2 new proposals for a Creative Lead and a Project Co-Coordinator. Voting will close June 7th at around 8:00 am UTC+0.
  • An introduction to Superblocks and a guide to voting guide can be found here.
  • There is a great responsibility for Service Node owners to vote either "yes" or "no" on the proposals. It cannot be emphasised enough how much the community, as well as the Blocknet team, relies on Service Nodes to vote on project proposals to ensure continued funding for development of the Blocknet. Not voting could greatly threaten the project.
  • We have created a new emailing list for Superblock notifications. This emailing list is separate to the Word on the BLOCK newsletter email and is directed toward Service Node operators to provide reminders leading up to the voting deadline. To subscribe to these notifications, you can sign up for here.
  • Voting will become a great deal easier and much more user-friendly in the new wallet, taking just a few clicks. You can view the designs for the voting functionality here.

Many thanks for reading. We hope that you are as excited as us with what the future holds for Blocknet. A decentralization project fundamentally requires an engaged community, and so if you would like to help with anything, have something to add, use your professional skills or have a problem, we want to know about it.

Please also be aware that a community project is run by a diverse group of people with varying time-constraints (in a number of time-zones) and personal lives, so remember to be kind and patient!

If you want to be the first see these updates, you can receive the newsletters directly to your email by subscribing here. Our next update is due on June 15th. Until then we look forward to hearing from you!
