Bireuen surrounded by floods, dozens of submerged houses.

High intensity rain hit Bireuen District, Aceh Province - Indonesia, Thursday 6/12/2019, rain since 14.00. Up to 23.30 WIB, tens of houses were submerged in five sub-districts in Bireuen district.

The floods that soaked people's homes were caused by the heavy rains that caused river water and irrigation channels to overflow into the residents' settlements.

The Head of the Bireuen Social Service, Murdani, through the Head of the Disaster Preparedness Midwife Coordinator (TAGANA) Bireuen Zulfikar said that there were five sub-districts affected by floods, reaching 50 cm to 1 meter in height.

The flooded sub-districts include Juang, Peudada, Jeumpa, Peulimbang and Jeunib sub-districts. Meanwhile dozens of houses were submerged.

There were several refugee points in the incident, residents who were displaced were now in their respective villages. According to temporary data compiled from the Bireuen District Disaster Preparedness Cadets there are currently sixty-one heads of families displaced from two hundred thirty-one people. They are spread from three villages in Peudada District.

Zulfikar added that his party had distributed panic assistance for the victims, hopefully the assistance could ease their burden. There were no fatalities in the events of the flood.
