Some markets I use

Hi,

a friend of mine asked me the other day, to search for him for some Biedermeier furniture pieces, as they are still to be found in the German area. For this, I use different marketplaces, the most convenient being kleinanzeigen, which is an alternative to craigslist in the USA. As a side note, Biedermeier is the period in time from 1815 to 1848. I love finding good deals on such old stuff. We have found some Louis Philippe style pieces from 1835 for free, which we kept.

I'm using it, as it is very convenient. Sometimes, there is free stuff that people don't need, and we try to flip it. Also, we give a lot of stuff away, as the price to discard it, would be higher, and we just want it out. But mostly is a marketplace from person to person, and quite efficient, as I know what I want and can search it.

I have some filters inserted, and get alerts if something is on, matching my criteria. This is practical, as I'm fast if it is a good deal, and also can pick it up, if I'm in that area.

The beauty of it, is that in some cases, I can pay with crypto. There are some people that accept crypto, and I gladly pay with it, to increase the use cases. When we moved, we paid the guy with the van in some stable coin. That was amazing, to be able to move house with crypto.

Another method that I use to trade, which is outside the supermarkets, are the flea markets. I try to get to the specialised ones, for example kid ones, as there are good deals for my kid. He grows fast and we change most clothes every 6 months. On the flea market we can check the clothes, and get only the mint condition ones which are good deals. After he outgrows them, we gave them to poor kids in our network or sell them, mostly for a profit. The only thing we buy new are the shoes and underwear. We try to get him only bio-cotton clothing, made in Europe.

Another good deals I find on public boards, where people can place ads. These are gold mines, as sometimes there are also jobs posted for one day. Remember the guy with the van? I forward him the moving jobs, and he gives me crypto as commission.

How about you? What would be your marketplace?
