A detailed leak shows that Verizon Internet provider Verizon developed its own cloud service for streaming games with "Verizon Gaming". Planned is a Netflix-like portal with all current AAA games, as a placeholder are Red Dead Redemption 2 or God of War to see. Maybe the service should serve as a flagship for 5G mobile.

Almost all major gaming companies now have their own cloud gaming ambitions. Sony has been in the business for a while with PSNow, Google is developing Project Stream, the topic is being discussed in the next generation of consoles, and Publisher is also interested in the new possibilities with Electronic Arts. As a detailed report from The Verge magazine suggests, the US mobile operator Verizon is also testing a cloud gaming service: "Verizon Gaming".

Verizon Gaming as Netflix for games, such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War
According to the leak, Verizon Gaming is in alpha state, with the company has been hiring test players for a long time. These would get next to a Nvidia Shield an Amazon coupon over $ 150. In the longer term, the app should run on any Android device. The Verge reports that over 135 games are currently being tested in Verizon Gaming.

In screenshots of the app is a surface that reminds a lot of Netflix and shows a whole series of AAA games: Anthem, God of War 4, Detroit: Become Human, Red Dead Redemption 2 or Far Cry 5. To what extent Wildcard is not clear. However, Anthem and Red Dead have shown an interesting vzg label in the upper corner. How Verizon should have written to the testers, you are just working on the basic functions. The game selection will be finalized later, but should consist of many (or all) of the known top games.

As reported, the tests are still clearly in the alpha phase. Placeholders can be found everywhere in the app. Also a memory function does not exist in the streamed games yet. Currently, every game start has to be restarted. Incidentally, Verizon definitely has ambitions with regard to cloud gaming, as is the case with individual job advertisements.

These tenders also indicate that Verizon wants to deal with the known streaming issues - especially latency and lags - with the help of the new 5G mobile technology. Verizon Gaming would thus be a poster child for the possibilities of the new network. Because 5G but still wait a while, the tests are currently probably only via WLAN instead.
