You Can't Really Replace.
We don't hear much about Mujahideen because they are not very popular on the ground in Iran. And the regime is aware of their capabilities. So they are very hidden.
They don't publicize themselves very openly. But I think they can be the surprise element here. There hasn't been much discussions, and I'm interested in people who might have more knowledge about this group to talk about the sort of role that they might be playing in this war.
Thanks. Thanks. I want to go to Artin.
Artin, I don't know how much of, I know you've followed things going on inside of Iran, but what I was referring to is something that had happened during the 2009 Green Movement when they purged the Ministry of Intelligence. And so at the same time, like what Donna was talking about, the focus on the IRGC was so much, they had this major focus on building their own parallel intelligence organization. So it was really fragmented.
And you had multiple intelligence bodies kind of competing with each other, coordinating. And we kind of see that same behavior right now with the way that the IRGC and the military, they're not connected. And so we're seeing that with their reactions and just striking different countries and then adult chief coming in and trying to kind of fix it a little bit.
So I'd love to hear your thoughts on some of this. So first I'll answer that, and then I'll talk about the thing that nobody is actually really talking about, including in this space. When Ahmadinejad was dismantling the intelligence apparatus within Iran, he did so because he found a lot of Mossad agents in there.
You know, rightfully so. That's what infiltration does in one end of these countries, back and forth on either way. Once he went down the entire list, he saw there were too many Mossad agents.
He tried to replace them. And then the problem is you can't really replace.
I love how you're shedding light on lesser-known groups like the Mujahideen - it really adds depth to our understanding of the complex dynamics in Iran. Your mention of the Ministry of Intelligence purge in 2009 is fascinating, it's clear you've done your research. 💡
