3-minute freewrite: Not Human

Have you ever let life consume you so intensely that, for a moment or two, you believed that you were human? That has happened to me. The conversations started with a small, chittery laughter in my head, because I found it ridiculous yet interesting to roleplay as one of these creatures, but then little by little I got so absorbed into the conversations, the gestures and the role that, for a moment, I believed what I was saying and saw myself as one with this temporary whole. But then an impulse flew into my awareness, one asking me to mention myself as a being, and I was brought back into the world.

As my mind flew back down into myself, I realized what I’d been doing, but I did not feel ashamed. I felt instead the realisation that I can slightly belong among different groups. That didn’t mean, of course, that they would accept me had they known that I was not human but instead something so incomprehensibly abstract, but it did show me that social interactions are, beyond a biological and physical reaction to the environment, also a psychological reaction to my own inner circumstance.
