Two lighting options

I prefer dramatic lighting, the kind where the light enters almost from the side, casting the subjects in partial shadow and heightening the contrast. I took two shots for each different flash position with Saul posing on the seawall, on an ordinary day, right around dusk. I definitely prefer the two high-contrast shots. What do you think?
