Raining on Luck

Pushed myself too hard again
Body wretched from abuse
Still willing to go through pain
If it'll end up with my win

Then she came down to me
Revealing each ones path
All I could do was see
Superior gifts with bigger Depths

Working 10 times harder
In addy to what nature bestowed
Almost drew a scornful laughter
As I cussed my luck

Then I realized mere efforts were a waste
The road wasn't for the swift
We all chase the same thing
But only few will ever taste

A fair bit of luck is needed
To make up for our failings
I'll make mine a fairly healthy dose
To ever see myself winning
