Markdown Practice Exercise/Example
Markdown is a way to style text and control the display of the document; formatting words as bold or italic, adding images, and creating lists to name a few. Mostly, Markdown is just regular text with a few non-alphabetic characters thrown in, like # or *.
What follows is my first attempt at markdown to add some flavor to my steemit posts. In the process I may have created something that is useful to others, so I am sharing it. Hope it helps.
First you'll see the final product, scroll down for the actual code.
This is the largest title ever!
Or maybe just an ordinary h1 title that I created with that pound sign thingy
This is the second largest title
Just added another pound sign thingy
This is the third largest title
Three in a row and what do you know
This is some bold text
We'll, I wouldn't call it shy but I wouldn't call it bold either
This is your italic text
Mama Mia!

This is my junk in a box - Merry Christmas!
Some text that has been struck in half by lightning or something
Some nifty quoted text
*This is some text that I don't want to be formatted so I added that knarly backslash*
And here you have what is simultaineously a picture AND a link (and coincidentally a picture OF a link):
