Intelligence, a key personality factor

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

The differences between each human being are intrinsic, they manifest themselves in many ways, but the ones that are most interesting and complex to study are the differences in personalities. The personality characteristics of a human being, and the way they manifest themselves, can be infinite. Although society and its routine may favor the formation of similar personality patterns, each person will always have unique traits that identify them.

The human brain is such a complex and flexible organ that with only a slight alteration it can cause various types of phenomena in people, such as autism spectrum disorders, characterized by persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction, as well as other disorders that affect the ability of human understanding. It is also possible to combine various alterations that allow people to develop extraordinary information processing, storage, and problem-solving capabilities, which would translate into greater intelligence.

Even though we all share genetic material, and our physical and intellectual capacities are practically identical. We experience different experiences, all this information together with our environment, is decisive for the formation of the intellectual capacity of people, and with it their personality. It is for this reason that people who are exposed to similar experiences and environments have similar patterns of behavior. An example of this is the behaviour of adolescents, who, although living in totally different cultures, live together in a similar model of society, increasingly dominated by technological trends. As a result, it can be seen that adolescents tend to perform the same activities using these technologies regardless of their location or condition, doing it for pleasure, and not so much for fashion. But these are just patterns of behavior, the personality is so complex that it cannot be replicated, as can the level of intelligence.

Just as there are patterns of behavior in adolescents, there are also patterns in people who have not shared similar experiences but who do have a similar level of intelligence. In the case of geniuses, brilliant people with great reasoning abilities present patterns of behavior that are often shared, such as curiosity, impulsiveness, dedicated people, perfectionism, solitarism and even a neurotic personality. In this way the level of intelligence helps to define the personality, but does not determine it at all. After all, nature and experiences make each person unique.
