Today's Weed News for March 17th 2018

For today's weed news we head to the Great State of Connecticut.

A hearing was held this week in Connecticut where lawmakers discussed a bill to legalize recreational cannabis in the state.

H.B. 5458 would allow anyone over the age of 21 to purchase recreational Cannabis from retailers as well as consume marijuana in special lounges. In addition people in Connecticut would be granted grow rights for personal consumption limited to six plants.

As it stands today over 71% that's almost three-quarters of Connecticut's residents are in favor of legalizing and taxing recreational pot!

Most citizens as well as lawmakers in the state agree that legalization would bring significant economic benefits. Many also believe that there is racial disparity in marijuana-related arrests and that minorities often end up serving more time for simple possession than whites, and that making cannabis legal would do a lot to fix that situation.

All of this however is not enough to wake up Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy who has clearly stated that he is against legalizing marijuana in his state.

So if you reside in Connecticut be on the lookout for a vote on this bill in November. It's going to take a lot of voices to overcome your Governor's opposition so make sure you're there to support the movement.
