Hello everyone who has looked into my blog! Friends, you recognize this plant? I'm sure you're familiar with it. I like the legend that this herb has a cosmic or divine origin. It tells that the goddess Lada sailed across the night sky on a silver boat. People asked the gods for help. To heal people from disease and suffering, she threw the seeds of various medicinal plants on the ground. In an instant, without waiting for the dawn, the very first sprouted seeds of Epilobium . Deep dark at night they began to Shine their fiery crimson color. People prepared a drink from this plant that helped them overcome the disease.

Straight and rather thick stems really stretch to the sky. Their height freely reaches 2 meters. I stood in the thickets of this grass and these brushes of lilac flowers with long stamens towered over my head. The leaves of this plant are a bit like willow leaves. They're just as narrow and long. Hence its name-narrow-leaved Epilobium.

This plant can be found in any region of the Northern hemisphere. The grass is very unpretentious in choosing a place. It can grow on dry sandy soil, on the edge of the forest, on the railway embankment. By the way, this grass is among the first plants that appear on the site of forest fires.

Nature has generously endowed this plant with healing properties. Even in Ancient Russia, at a time when there were no modern drugs and scientific developments, all diseases were treated with herbs. In those days there were people who knew the healing properties of various herbs and knew how to use them. Such people were called sorcerers or healers. As soon as trouble came to the house, people went to them for help, forgetting about prejudices. This the grasses was one of the most popular among healers. It was used in the treatment of various ailments.

The uniqueness of this plant is that it contains a large amount of nutrients. The content of vitamin C in It is several times more than in citrus fruits. Organic acids, b vitamins, calcium, manganese, potassium, phosphorus and other components that are very beneficial to the human body. Epilobium has anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effect. It's a great sedative and painkiller. It helps in the treatment of various types of gastritis, diseases of the urinary tract, adenoma. Normalizes blood composition. Helps to eliminate symptoms such as heartburn , dysbacteriosis. It helps to reduce nervousness, relieves headaches, heals wounds and injuries on the skin, helps in cleansing the body of toxins.

These listed useful properties in any case are not a complete recommendation for self-treatment. In any case, it is necessary to consult with specialists. It is also Important to know and follow certain rules: how and when to collect Ivan tea; how to dry it; how to brew this healthy drink.

Following all the rules, you will be able to keep all the useful properties of this plant. I will tell you one recipe:

I love flowers

Beautiful flowers! And also is my favorite color! I cant believe grow 2 meters

I think that many are attracted by their simplicity and beautiful color. Th is always visible from afar because of their growth . They're impossible to miss. Thanks @cooknbake, I'm glad you stopped by.

Excellent post. Great photos and interesting info on Ivan-tea. I think here in US it is called fireweed. It is too hot and dry for Ivan tea where I live in California but I think it is common in higher elevations with more moisture.

You're right, @steven-patrick! I also met this name on the Internet, but because of my poor English, I didn't know which one was correct. I edited 2 times, but after all chose the other option. But I hope I'm understood :)
yeah, I think you can find him in the mountains. Especially since it is very unpretentious. Thanks for stopping by :)

yeah, right! it's no wonder I recently cooked jam, ha ha
still roofing pies to bake, ha ha

Well done post! Right know they are flowering here in Norway and the meadows are purple/violet from their flowers.

HAve one question about the plant, are we using to dry whole plant with flowers or just a leaves?

Hi @photovisions ! Thank you for noticing and paying attention to my post :)
The Raw material for tea is stems and leaves. Inflorescences are added only for flavor. But the best tea is obtained if you collect this grass until flowering. If the seeds and fluff have already started to form, then this plant is no longer suitable for the drink.
These meadows are really fantastically beautiful. They can not be overlooked :). I also know that in mountainous areas, people can collect honey from Ivan tea , but it is too quickly candied :)

Ok, great thanks for extra info! So it is little too late already to pick the best stuff but still some young leaves can be used.. I will have to try it!

I love tea, I never tried this one! I'm nominating this post to the next edition of #dailyspotlights, by @pixresteemer :)))!
