Wake up!!!

I have heard it many times before that the first couple of hours of your day in the long term can dictate how your life turns out.



It makes sense to establish a consistent healthy morning routine that is conducive to building a healthy life.

I think it is helpful to think of the start of your day as a chance to consume and create.... you have the choice to start by consuming healthy content and being productive, or consuming junk food and wasting time.

So, lets talk about the very first thing that you decide to put in your brain.

is it junk food : the internet, distracting apps, television.

or healthy food: reading, meditation, journaling, exercising.

When you start the day with junk food, you put yourself at a self imposed handicap.

You are less happy, focused, and productive.
I spend a ton of time on the internet and don’t get any real work done.

But if I start my day with health food

I’m happier, more focused and productive.



As it turns out your brain is quite vulnerable when first waking because of a lil ol thing called DOPAMINE.
“When you wake up you’re in this theta alpha state and you’re highly suggestible. Every like, comment, share, you get this dopamine fix and it’s literally rewiring your brain. What you’re smart device is doing especially if that’s the first thing you grab when you wake up and you’re in this alpha theta state, is rewiring your brain to be distracted.”

If we start our days by checking email, instagram, or the internet, we are wiring DOPAMINE enhanced habits. The designers of these Apps like INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK know exactly what they are doing and design their interactive products with knowledge that they are giving their users their fix. However, they are quite clever because they only give you temporary sense of fulfillment, so that you feel that you have to come back for more.

Imagine if you started your day instead with:

20 minutes of meditation
1 hour of reading
Journal for 30 minutes

So how exactly do you start the day with health food for your brain? Well it's actually quite simple.


Don’t use your devices in the morning


Willfully create a device free space and routine for your mornings and you will be rewarded with an improved existence.
You will find yourself to be more productive, creative, and happier.

The positive routines will come. Start by simply willfully deciding to have a morning with out your addictive scrolling and liking and checking on whatever mindless crap you tend to check but don't even know why because it is meaningless to you.

This is really powerful and important. Nobody taught us this, but now I am very serious about my morning routine.

The first and the best thing to do is to skip the breakfast.

Perhaps the beginning of the morning with what inspires the soul is the best thing, because it enhances the positive energy and increases the peace of mind and psychological security
