@scrooger's 700km+ Cross Country - South Korea - Cycling Trip - Day 4 - Cycled 115km
Day 4 - 115km
It has been a while since I posted about my bike trip and guess it's time to finish the journey here on Steemit. Life and projects have kept me very busy but after a lot of thinking, I have reworked my schedule to get back to better posts and more updates.
Day 4 started off like any other day, after getting lost and staying in a dirty motel I did not let it discourage me at all. I woke up fresh and plotted my course carefully, can't really afford to get lost and waste time. Only have a few days left to complete the journey and will really regret not finishing in time. Day 4 let's go!
The weather was lovely and really appreciated the clouds rolling in. After a large coffee and breakfast I headed out! Look at me go! =P
On my way to Daegu, had to cross this lovely bridge to get there. It looks almost never-ending.
This guy told me to turn back! Something about aliens... WHAT?
A few kilometers later I saw what he was talking about. Aliens my butt! That's a stadium! Pretty cool looking Stadium... or at least I think it's a stadium. =)
Checkpoint! An how cool is it that they tell you about the rare pokemon nearby. Pretty cool that there is actually a sign dedicated to pokemon go. Come to think of it, could have cought a lot of rare pokemon on my journey... Just didn't have the time to stop and catch em' all!
Biggest fish I ever saw...
One of the more interesting routes.
Pretty cool rock wall, saw loads of people stopping and taking pictures of it. Not sure why it's so special but didn't want to feel left out, so I snapped a quick pic and awed at the view. Come to think of it, the more I looked at it the more it calmed me. Ah well, enough staring at rocks! Onwards!
Been cycling for a good 3 hours now, parched and hungry I was looking for a rest stop to get some body fuel. Still grateful for the cloudy weather.
Stamp time! Yes, break and refuel! Remember seeing a Korean couple here where the wife had a rope tied to her husband's bike. I was not quick enough to grab my phone to get a picture, the husband was cycling to fast while the wife relaxed...=P
What the DUCK!?
That LG screen you are staring at right now, I think this is where they are made... Cool right!? Your monitor is seeing its home... LOL
A few kilometers later (and getting a little bit lost again) I stopped to rest and consult my map. Found a cool place selling garden features. Quite nice.
I was pretty tired by now. No matter how much I cycled it did not feel like much progress, I knew I still had a good 50KM to go... Decided to buckle down and just go in strong, no stopping for pictures!
2 minutes later....OOH a bridge!
And cool clouds!
STOP STOPPING! Just go, it's going to get dark soon and you are messing around! FOCUS! I decided to turn my volume to max and just go, not stopping until I finished 20km without stopping!
I cycled like a madman! I got lucky with the wind behind me and I did the next 20 km in no time! At one point I guess I reached a cyclists high! I just kept going, averaging around 30km/h and nothing stopping me! Nothing can stop me! Except for my saddle sore ass... Why oh why!?
Got a little cocky and decided to do some Look ma! No hands riding, just to switch my position a bit. Still going strong. Then it hit me... I smell a gif..
Wait for it...
After my shananigans, I found an extremely long stretch of nothing... The same path for kilometers on end, luckily my legs were dead by now and just doing their own thing. There was no pain and I couldn't really feel them. I know I will feel them later but for now I was making really good progress!
Until I saw this big guy! Just had to stop and snap some pictures.
The rest of the route was pretty smooth sailing. It was getting colder though....
Guess I got it good with all the flat roads, I eventually ended up here... I hated these signs...
Luckily I know what goes up must come down... so I cycled up, and then caught a really cool breeze on the way down.
Wow, a shooting range in South Korea, that's a first
I kept going and then all of a sudden it was dark. Knew it was time to find a motel and get some rest. I consulted google maps and the closest motel was about 10km away. Not bad, the reviews were terrible though. Ah well, the 2nd closest motel is around 25km so there is no way I am cycling that far at night. Decided to just head to another dodgy motel. Hope it's better than the last one.
I did not take a lot of pictures since I was just rushing to find a place to sleep. I eventually got to the motel and OMG from the outside it looked terrible. Was next to this old broken down fuel station... Ah well, my options are limited so I have to take what I get.
I went in oh boy was I wrong! The owners were extremely friendly! They welcomed me in and since it was Chuseok (Like Korean Thanksgiving) most of the shops/marts were closed and also pretty far away. They gave me a lift to a shop that was open 24/7.
I got some food and then after a bath and a meal, I passed out.
Day 4 DONE!
The Motel the next morning:

I was hoping there was more of the bike trip ...I've been waiting for this! I'm loving the tour.
Apologies for taking so long, just so busy lately. Will try and get the rest of the days out within the next week or so. Thanks for checking in. Glad you enjoy it. =)
Awesome. This looks like such a fun adventure. That's so funny they have Pokemon signs. They must take it really serious.
Did you carry your stuff in Panniers or a backpack?
They take it very serious. Pretty much everyone has a smartphone and most of the kids I know play it.
The other day one of my students lost a tooth. Asked him what he got from the tooth fairy... A FEAKIN SMARTPHONE!
My tooth fairy was never that cool...
I would have had my friends help me pull my own tooth out with that kind of reward.
Nice post mate! You made some killer progress on your trip 💪
Yep, that was one of the longer days. Legs got used to the pain and I just powered through. =)
Worth waiting for day 4. :-)
That trip seemed never ending, I guess you were knackered after another 4 days.
Needless to say I enjoy to read about it and to admire the scenery. Again I will say how peaceful it looks. Really nice pictures.
Looking forward to reading your next post about day 5.
Thanks @nelinoeva. =)
Yes day 4 had me extremely tired! After I ate I passed out super hard and slept like a log, woke up with crazy sore legs. Still many pictures and scenery to come! =)
Will post day 5 in the next week or so. =)
Halfway done? So what's the target? Kim Jong Un's capital???
BTW This looks like steem logo :-)
Haha, luckily not!
Those signs are for a bathhouse or resting area. All over Korea. Kind of looks like the old Steemit logo. =)
Awesome trip :)
Thanks mate, was awesome indeed! Now that I am back I really miss it and want to go again.
That Dragonite made my day 😂
I know right! =0
Wish I had more time to catch some awesome Pokemon. =)
EPIC!!
heads towards @oleg326756's page...
