Are we alone?

This question is a fundamental question, because if we are alone in this Universe then that would be a total waste of space. I compare it to a man who lives alone buying a house with 50 rooms, or 1 fish in an entire ocean, it makes no sense. It is believed that there are over 100billion galaxies, and as such trillions of planets. It is illogical to conclude that with so much available space that the Earth would be the only planet with life. Sure life will not look like us everywhere. Some places will have only bacteria. Others my have some kind of algae in a ocean. Or maybe life that we would have difficulty even identifying as life. Maybe other civilizations existed but they died out because of wars, natural disasters, pollution, asteroid impacts etc. Maybe they live as stone age people or they live so far away that we will never see eachother etc. We may not have proof or Government confirmation, but logic says that we are not alone.
