Big Bike, Big love, Big risk

I would like to share my personal experience with this big bike back then during my college. What do you think of when you see a big bike like this? To me, it’s none other than trend, modernization and a symbol of power and charm.

Year 4 at University

Year 4 is the final year here of a bachelor degree. “With motorcycle jacket and sun glasses on, I was riding one big bike with my beautiful girlfriend at the back, sightseeing around the city multiple times and eventually stopped to have lunch at a fancy restaurant in the city; without doubts, people and the passers-by gazed at us as if we were celebrities.” Oooopp It was a day dreaming after all. It was a dream to own one big bike as it was very trendy and popular among early adults at that time. I who come from a medium family, rode an automatic bike which a lot cheaper than the bigger one. My bike was doing okay and I did love it very much. It was very convenient to ride by just circling a bit of the motorcycle hand grip, and more importantly it was more economical riding that as well. However, seeing people riding those big bikes on the street truly arouse a lot of my interests despite the fact that I didn’t really know how to ride one. I literally craved to possess that big bike, yet was really hesitated to make a request to my parents, knowing there was very little possibility.

The bravest moment

Thinking back and forth, that same day, I went home in the evening and decided to summon up all of my courage and asked my parents to get me one of those big motorcycles. I tried to give all my valid and invalid reasons just to hopefully convinced my parents successfully. After all the claims were made, and reasons were justified, as expected, the answer was “No, you are too young and small, and the bike is a lot bigger. No more justification was made. Hearing that, I had nothing to say besides putting up my miserable face and show my disappointment. Since it was not my first time facing rejection, my misery lasted just only seconds after everything was cleared.

Being a Hero

Few months later, I successfully graduated my bachelor degree. What was more grateful was I got my full-time job just right after the graduation ceremony. With passion and dedication, I saved up for several months and was finally able to afford to buy that one big bike, which I really fond of. I secretly went to the bike shop and finally made a deal. It was not new actually, the bike I bought. It was CBR 250CC, 2012. It was a lot bigger and heavier than I thought, yet I love it. After checking the parts of the bike and ignited the engines several times, I had only one request to the seller. Can you guess what it was? Hahaha… I asked the seller if he could teach me how to ride that bike. Upon the agreement, I was ultimately able to ride, poorly of course.

Big Bike, Big risk

With confidence, I rode the bike home with the purpose of surprising my parents with my achievement, the bike. However, while I was riding, the engine suddenly stopped in the middle of the road as I didn’t hold the gear tight enough. The unbalance of my 2 feet and the ground caused me to fall off the motorbike. What was worse, I was literally under the bike. I was fortunate though as the pedestrians saw and helped me out, lifting up the bike and checked if I was okay. I was hurt and got some bruises on my knees and elbows. Arriving home, my parents quickly ran to me and helped cleaned up the wounds. I was very emotional and truly felt wrongful to do such silly act, but I felt blessed to have such a caring family. My parents suggested that I sell the bike to avoid this kind of accident…………..
