I saw a comment which discuss this much deeper! Better you visit SL and sometimes you might not known, SL is the place which written Tripitaka! Better you come here! Yeah Theravada is little strict in Vinaya (Rules)! I am personally believe Vinaya (Rule or Control)is the key of Buddhism! Specially the control of mind is the key of path to Nirwana!
