Hi guys! Today I want to talk you something about another book whose film version is perhaps more famous than the book itself.

I must say straight away that I love this book because of the main character, Barney Panofsky, a unique figure in literature.

Barney is bad, liar, traitor, alcoholic, vulgar, brawling and inclined to absurd weddings...in short, how can we not love Barney?

In this book Barney traces his story to respond to the accusations of an old not-friend and he does so by mirroring his messy lifestyle.

He doesn’t hide his nature because he is not ashamed of it. He has become an asshole and he got rich forgetting the meaning of ethics and morality, betraying his wives and perhaps killing his best friend.

For Barney only exists his beloved Miriam, known at the wedding party of his second marriage in which he madly felt in love with her.

Epic is the story of their first meeting, unforgettable the first grotesque appointment that will lead to the third and last Barney’s marriage, unfortunately destined to end after a betrayal.

The book is written in the first person and follows the confused thoughts of Barney without wanting to find a logical thread. It seems to run page after page next to the Alzaimer that blurs his and our thoughts...so do not be surprised if you find yourself with watery eyes thinking that maybe that mistake has never existed and that Miriam is waiting for you at home with the children, the outcome of the hockey match and a bottle of whiskey.

I admit that I have not read other Mordecay Richler’s works and I can not tell you more about him, but accept this advice: go to know much about Barney Panofsky right now and you will be in love with him.

ciao ragazzi! Oggi vi voglio paralare di un altro libro la cui versione cinematografica è forse più famosa del libro stesso.
Vi dico subito che adoro questo libro per il protagonista, Barney Panofsky, personaggio unico nella letteratura.

Barney è cattivo, bugiardo, traditore, alcolizzato, volgare, rissoso e propenso a matrimoni assurdi...insomma, come si può non amare Barney?
In questo libro Barney ripercorre la propria storia per rispondere alle accuse di un vecchio non-amico e lo fa rispecchiando il suo stile di vita incasinato.

Non fa nulla per nascondere quella che è la sua natura perchè non se ne vergogna. E' diventato uno stronzo e si è arricchito dimenticandosi di cosa sia l'etica e la morale, tradendo le proprie compagne e, forse, ammazzando
il suo migliore amico.

Una sola altra persona esiste per Barney, l'adorata e amatissima Miriam, conosciuta alla festa di nozze del suo secondo matrimonio e di cui si innamora perdutamente.
Epico è il racconto del loro primo incontro, indimenticabile il primo grottesco appuntamento che porterà al terzo e ultimo matrimonio di Barney, destinato purtroppo a finire dopo un tradimento.

Il libro è scritto in prima persona e segue i pensieri confusi di Barney senza volerne trovare un filo logico tanto da correre pagina dopo pagina a fianco dell'Alzaimer che offusca i suoi e i nostri pensieri...e allora non soprendetevi se vi troverete con gli occhi un pò lucidi a pensare che forse quell'errore non è mai esistito e che Miriam vi aspetta a casa con i bambini insieme ai risultati dell'hockey e ad una bottiglia di whisky.

Ammetto di non aver letto altre opere di Mordecay Richler e non ho la possibilità quindi di raccontarvi di pìù sul suo conto, ma accettate questo consiglio: correte a conoscere e ad innarmorarvi di Barney Panofsky
