Late rash / Anton Chekhov - recommendation

in #books5 years ago

Chekhov wrote mainly short stories and this book contains four of them. I will not dwell on almost any story, but I will mention a few things that characterize all the stories and Chekhov's writing.

I am not a fan of Russian literature, which has many names and many names, as well as a limited selection of subjects. I love Chekhov. He makes little noise, every sentence in his place, and pleasurable to read it. In the four stories gathered in this book, all the characters feel that they are not in their place, neither in time, nor financially, nor in the timing of their appearance on the stage of the world. They all hurt some pain, it would be love, status, financial situation or battle death.

The fourth story, a boring thing, is about a senior lecturer, a professor of medicine in his sixties, who feels his end is near. A charming first-person story describes how he builds his lectures in the classroom in the first sentences that bring the rest of the lecture, the refinements, the wit and the anecdotes in a desire not to bore the students. The magic of description. I'm no longer talking about how that same professor goes down on Russian literature and slanders it. I liked it very much.

In 248 pages, Chekhov succeeds in bringing us into the world of the unsatisfied, with the leeches always eating daily without shame. There is money, there is status and sometimes even international fame. There is no satisfaction and satisfaction. Can sound depressing, and it is. Do not deprive yourself of reading.
