📷 Hidden Bricks and Pipes

Two years ago, it was beginning of June 2016 when we started our second but this time significant renovation of one of the apartments that we now rent for tourist accommodation.

The apartment is suited in an old building, not far from the core city center, built at the beginning of the last century, somewhere around the 1930's. Today, if and when the bricks are used for making new houses they are usually hollow while these walls were built with filled blocks.

The bathroom was one of the rooms that should be entirely wrecked apart to put all sorts of pipes and cables inside the walls. Being aware that once when construction workers are going to cover all of that with new plaster, we wouldn't know anymore where exactly they are stretching, my husband and I decided to take the photos of this whole disaster.

Hidden Bricks and Pipes

As a simple photo wouldn't be of much help once everything is going to be covered with new ceramic tiles, we agreed to take the pictures with a leaning measuring meter.

That way we would exactly know where in the wall they are placed, and as well, what was most important, avoid to punch the wall, e.g., for putting the bathroom cabinets or else, right in the middle of any of those new pipes and cables.

My husband was holding the meter, and I was taking the photos. We photographed almost every inch of the bathroom (what help us a lot later on, even way more than we thought it would).

However, at the time when the whole reconstruction was still in the process, I felt that this work will never end even less ever turn out to be something like this.

Complete turnaround of what was messy before....the old pipes looks like the internal circuit board of any electronic item...goofy and mesy...spread all over...

Even these photos can't picture enough what kind of mess it really was, with enormous amount of dirt and dust. I thought I would never get rid of it. Thank God, at the end we did and everything turned out pretty well. 😊
