Every successful person no matter how big has a driving force. A passion trigger; a motivation. For everything we do, whether we like it or not there is always a background motive. Nobody does anything just for doing's sake. In fact doing something for the fun of just doing it is a motive already. Sometimes we might deny the fact that there is always a motive for doing things, but being motivated is in no way wrong. In fact it's very normal. Success comes with hard work and one needs to be well motivated in order to keep pushing.

Finding What motivates you

Most times it is difficult to settle for that particular source of motivation that is just sufficient enough to keep us going. It has been proven that the bigger motivation an individual gets, the harder he pushes. Finding the right source of motivation can be very confusing sometimes because you might want to make the mistake of thinking that your motivation should come directly from your passions.

Over the course of time, I have seen that people often think that whatever they are passionate about should always be their source of motivation. This however is not true all the time. One can be passionate about something and yet lack the motivation to make it work. The best kind of motivation should be what you stand to achieve from/by doing something. This may sound greedy in a way but you can only be well motivated when you know the prize that is set before you.

Are you under-motivated or over-motivated?

Not getting the right type of motivation can be very bad but being over motivated can also result in a kind of natural laxity. It is important to note that it is your passion for something that makes you want to do it in the first place but you need the right motivation to continue in whatever you have started.

One does not need to be motivated to start a business or an Enterprise, but to remain relevant in your chosen field, your motivation must remain consistent. Research has shown that most young entrepreneurs who lost interest in business half way into it, lost interest because they lacked proper motivation. Also there are some folks who never had any at all.

In order to succeed in business there must be a balance between your passions and your motives. Like I said earlier, never assume that they are thesame things. Know the difference between both of them. This will help you maintain a balance. The reason why there should be a balance is beautiful passions can die and motives can fade away. If your Enterprise is totally built on your passions, when they begin to die you might find yourself loosing interest in something you once loved. Also thesame thing applies for motives. When you are into something solely because of what you stand to gain, when those expected outcomes do not follow, you might find yourself doubting your choices and decisions.

Motivate yourself

The biggest mistake you can ever make in business is waiting for people to encourage you or commend you before you feel good. In clear facts, 9 out of 10 business startups never get any commendations at the beginning. Most people who are successful entrepreneurs today can attest to the fact that they were once laughed at, they were once told "you can't make it", they were once asked "are you sure this will work?". If you allow what people say about you and your business to be what drives you, then you might just end up being under-motivated because you'll not get what you are expecting.

Nobody starts out with the intention of failing in the future, but along the line it is how well you are motivated that determines how long you will stay.
