In my previous post, I talked about Tips to hire your ideal candidates, do check it out. So just like there are challenges in everything in life, there are also Hiring challenges that any entrepreneur will definitely face. No matter how good or perfect your candidates are, there are still challenges that you will face and knowing those challenges will give you a head start in solving them when being faced with them.

Training

If you hired a a talented and skilled candidate, then such a person will love to learn new things. Human beings naturally love to learn new things and if you don't train your employees regularly or sponsor a training program for them once in a while, be rest assured that their productivity will drastically reduce. They will either get bored of the the same routine and quit, get frustrated and quit or you will fire them for a poor performance. The problem is not their poor performance, it is your inability to train them. The world keeps getting innovative, you and your employees should do the same.

Pressure

No matter how good a person is, you can never tell how they will respond to pressure or bad times. When asked how they deal with pressure, a potential candidate will tell you what you want to hear, no one will tell you they are short tempered or impatient during an interview. You can only know this when they are faced with the situation, e.g an angry customer or a clash of personalities with another employee.

It is easier if you are hiring a company to do a work for you, You can always ask for a written policy on how they handle situations that induce pressure.

Motivation

Just like happiness, motivation comes from within. You cannot create motivation for someone else, the only thing you can do is to influence their level of motivation. And to make sure that your employees are motivated, you need to support them. Everyone loves to be treated like human, with respect no matter their position. So reach out to your employees often and find out how you can support them. That will keep them motivated and productive.

Incentives

Incentives may not always be money, which is why you should know the right incentives to give your employees. For an employee that earns a living that solves their basic financial needs, they will need incentives that are centered around autonomy, mastery, and purpose. So if you want your employees to be passionate, give them a purpose. Knowing that their roles are important for the growth of the organization fuels their passion.

Acknowledgment

An employee will rather be acknowledged for their specific roles and contributions than the number of years they have stayed with a company. So acknowledge each person for their unique contributions and avoid generalizing awards.

These are the potential challenges you can face with your hired candidates and how you can overcome them. So training, motivating, incentives and acknowledgment you can maintain a positive team.
