Good morning Steemians, it's another great day to share the word of God with the steemit community. Today is Sunday, a day set aside by God for rest and we will be discussing the topic "LOVE FOR NEIGHBORS". Yesterday we talked about the power in spoken words, you can read it up HERE.

Epeisians 4:3

Be completely humble and gentle;be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Patience is a Christian virtue and as Christians, we ought to be christ-like in everything we do.

Being a Christian is not only when you go to church but the life you live goes a long way in telling who and what you represent.

The Bible says, "love your neighbor as yourself". We all know what's good and what's bad, and a good deed towards your neighbor is a good deed towards God.

A young man journeyed home after graduating from the University where he spent a straight six years in studying medicine and surgery. He was on scholarship for the whole six years and he hadn't heard from his parents in a long whole, so he was very excited to go home and catch up on recent happenings.

On his way, he was stopped by an old man begging for money by the road side, but this young man was more interested in the journey and his destination.

He wasn't ready to be delayed for any reason, especially not by an old rugged looking man that doesn't know how to fend for himself;he thought. This made the young man ignore the old man while he continued his journey home to meet his lovely parents.

On getting home, he found the house to be in shambles and his parents were no where to be found. With anxiety, fear of what might have gone wrong and depression, he decided to make enquiries from the people that lived around the same neighborhood.

He was told that the house got burnt from a gas leakage and killed his mother, but the father survived with burn wounds and was homelessly begging for food and shelter in the streets.

When he was told of the location where the father was, he realized that the old man he passed on his way, begging for money was his dad and tears rolled down his eyes. He had neglected his own father without knowing.

This story teaches us a lesson, which is never to neglect or ignore those in need, regardless of who they are. Just a simple act of kindness could go a long way to save a life.

Jesus in all his activities on earth, kept showing kindness to humanity even when we reciprocated with wickedness and hatred.

The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and when we don't express these traits as Christians, then our Christian life ought to be questioned.

Make it a duty today to live a christ-like life, it's never too late to turn a new leave. Just like they say, it's better late than never.
