How is the RC expierament going?

in #busy5 years ago (edited)

So I have been messing around with my @orphansofdoom curation trail and have been kinda monitoring as everything goes through its processes. I have an account with 30 SP in it and I found these numbers very offputting. Say you are brand new here and have an account with almost no steem power. my money is you will not be around long. The hard fork just made it to hard for newbies. Her is the example. A 30 SP account is seen here.

As you can see I am allowed 35 total comments when fully charged. But I am at 1/3 of a full charge of RC. So I am now allowed 11 more comments till I am silenced. For each comment, it costs me 3% of my RC . At this point, it will take me 3 days to recharge to 100% if I do nothing. See how it only recharges at 6.4m per day.

Now let's look at my doomsday account

It has just over 3800 sp in it. I can literally do what ever I want and it will never get off of 100 % RC because my recharge rate is 779 m per day.

What does this mean?

I truly believe this will hurt new steemian retention rates as they will not be able to interact and do not have the time in here to understand what is going on. They will not invest any fiat into the platform and we will have accounts dieing as fast as we can make them. Steemit inc needs to do something about the under 50 SP accounts so they can interact like what you should be able to on a "social media" platform. If you can not interact it kinda takes the social out of the equation.

It would be nice if someone did a retention rate report on new accounts created one month after the HF, and compared it to the same retention of that month from last year.

Not a bad idea. I'll make a note!

Welcome back, I am sure you had a lot of fun. It will be an interesting thing to see. the year ago comparison.

I've got over 450 Ginas to catch up on, and about 30 hours sleep - I'll have a go at it tomorrow!

I wish I had the smarts to do that. Maybe @abh12345 or @paulag could pull those numbers.

I have some SP dished our to help a couple of people, it’s impossible for newbies to interact.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I bet, on average, I’m only attracting 3 followers per week.

Oh yeah I don't even look for new followers anymore. lol
New people on the platform is a thing of the past.

That’s what I’m doing wrong — looking! Whew, thanks! Glad it’s not my material. :sh:

I opened up an account I had not used for months, the other day.

1 posted one post, and three comments later - I could do nothing for another 24 hours...!

If i had just signed up to steemit, I would have left the site right away.

How is this supposed to attract, and retain, new users? smh...

Yep, it is pretty sad. Noone at the top give a shit though.
