I think that @drugwars ascending to #1 dapp in the world shows that the bar is currently set very low and will make others want to get in on that action.

"shows that the bar is currently set very low" - Exactly, this shows how early it is, and even more important, it will allow almost anyone to get a game established and with relative success for future times. As you said, no competition. And the reality is that there is a lot of demand for games like this.
I was chatting with someone today.
The idea is to get applications out there and keep updating them. Be in position for when the masses show up. Until crypto starts to be embraced on a large scale, it is just time to keep upgrading and fine tuning.
Be in place when the people come.
