Where do you have the data from that STEEM could not handle 5k new users in a day? Is there any data suggesting that a lot more accounts than the 500 per day that get approved are on the waiting list? I am asking because I am really not sure about that.
I saw in a post a few days ago, that 80000 account tokens have been created from RC and are free to use now. Most of them in the hands of the Steemit and steem account and a few large whales.
I think the problem is people with massive RCs still charges money for signing up while using RC is "free". But if they provide it for free how do we defend from spammers and name squatters?
