The house- Chapter 19

Matt was excited about his weekend.  He had a great weekend with his son and his son was very excited for his father to have found someone special. He asked him to be his best man and they already decided that they were going to wear the same suits.  Jack couldn't wait to meet Sarah in person, but with the wedding so close it was impossible. It was thanksgiving the week before the wedding and Matt promised to fly Jack down early, to spend time with them so that Jack could get to know Sarah. He knew that Jack was going to like Sarah just as much as he did. 

Sarah kept quiet while Matt drove back to the house. She had a special evening planned for them and she couldn't wait to tell him everything that Daphne told her.  It was still so unbelievable that Sarah could hardly believe it herself.

Sarah and Matt went straight to the kitchen after they arrived home.  Matt poured them each a glass of wine and Sarah made some snacks.  There were still no furniture in the kitchen and she made a mental note to put that on the list in the morning. For now she had too much to tell Matt. They walked over to the massive dining room and Sarah lit some candles. Matt couldn't believe everything that she told him it was such a farfetched story that he actually laughed when she finished.  

"And the writer that bought the house from your grandparents were YOUR Rich...your client? This house certainly wanted to stay in the family didn't it? This is absolutely amazing! "

That night Sarah lay in bed thinking about everything again.  She was so glad that she bought this house and she knew that it was totally the right thing to do.  

For the next week they burned the candle at both ends.  Both Sarah and Matt worked non-stop. If he was not at the office, he was painting. He was fast becoming a pro and even suggested that they bought another house to renovate once they were done with this one.  

They wanted everything just perfect when Jack arrived the following week. Sarah spent a lot of time on the phone with the wedding planner and if she wasn't on the phone she was at the furniture shop.  They wanted to fix up a room just for Jack when he came to visit.  Sarah was totally nervous about the wedding and to top it all, she picked up a terrible cold.  She has never been so sick in her life, and three days later it turned into stomach flue.  After spending three days in the bathroom Matt insisted that she went to the doctor. 

"I think I'm going to die" Sarah said when he brought her some warm chicken soup and orange juice.  Tears were streaming down her face.  Matt felt totally helpless.  

"Do you want me to drive you down to the hospital?"  Matt asked out of pure hopelessness.  "No I don't want to go anywhere, if I die I want to die right here!" Sarah shouted to Matt.  

She was totally beside herself and Matt decided to just leave her alone.  He went downstairs to put everything in the kitchen and when he came back Sarah was sleeping. He decided not to wake her but he was worried that something serious was wrong with her.  She had never shouted at him before and she just wasn't herself.  He lay in bed thinking about the past week and finally drifted off to sleep.  

Matt phoned the office early to tell them that he was not coming in. He wanted to make sure that Sarah get to the doctor safely and he needed to know what was going on.  He took a shower and was ready to go and wake her when Sarah walked in.  

"I'm sorry I yelled at you last night...this last week has just been hectic.  I feel much better today."

"There is no way that you are NOT going to the doctor Sarah. Go on, take a shower and I will bring you some tea. I will not take no for an answer."    

Sarah reluctantly took a shower and then tied her hair in a ponytail.  She was ready to go with him.
