Beer Review

Trailblazer is an 8% New England IPA brewed by the Connecticut Valley Brewing Company in South Windsor, Connecticut. Connecticut Valley Brewing Company launched in 2012 as an independently owned, family business. The new brewing facility sits 5 minutes from the Connecticut River in the heart of The Valley. Their logo features a F4U Corsair airplane which is known as the 'Official Airplane of Connecticut'. The Trailblazer is Connecticut Valley Brewing Company's signature New England style DIPA made with loads of Citra hops.

The Can

The Trailblazer is served in a full pint can. It has an orange and dark blue label which features a dude cruising down a trail on his bicycle. A banner wrapped around his head which reads 'Connecticut Valley Brewing Company' is trailing in the wind behind him. It you look closely you can see oranges in the background of the can, which indicates this is going to be a citrusy beer.

The Beer

The Trailblazer is a hazy orange when poured into a glass. As you can see in the photo above, it formed a thick head of bubbles during the pour. The beer reeks of citrus fruit. At first sip you can taste tangerine and zesty grapefruit. The Citra hops do a great job at masking the 8% alcohol content. Overall it was a solid New England Style IPA. I look forward to trying more beers from Connecticut Valley Brewing Company in the future!
