Wednesday Walk: My journey to the festival at the National Museum,

This is my entry for #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay. Last weekend I took a trip to the festival at the National Museum. I started my trip on a small orange bus whise driver was playing popular music probably from the 1980s.

I chose this bus because it would pass the main road in Chinatown and the old part of Bangkok. So I could take pictures of Chinatown and some temples along the way to the museum.

Then the bus went along small roads passing newly renovated old buildings and Wat Pho or the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. I saw many police officers in yellow polo-shirts near the Grand Palace where the Emerald Buddha is housed.

The bus stopped opposite the Grand Palace so I have to walk about one kilometers to reach the National Museum. It was a hot day with clear blue sky but there were no afternoon breezes. I walked past the old red building which used to be part of the old palace over a hundred years ago. Now these old buildings have become civil servants offices and the second oldest university in Thailand.

วันอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมาเราไปเที่ยวงานที่พิพิธภัณฑ์สถานแห่งชาติมา เป็นงานฉลองกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ ครบรอบ237ปี. เราขึ้นรถเมล์เล็กสีส้ม ซึ่งแล่นผ่านไปทางถนนเยาวราช และเลาะออกไปถนนเส้นเก่าหลังวังบูรพา ทำให้ได้เห็นตึกแถวสมัยรัชกาลที่5 ที่ได้รับการบูรณะแล้ว. และยังผ่านไปหน้าวัดโพธิ์ ที่มีพระนอนองค์ใหญ่มาก และเป็นวัดที่มีการสอนนวดแผนโบราณด้วย เราสังเกตเห็นตำรวจนอกเครื่องแบบ ใส่เสื้อโปโลสีเหลืองหลายร้อยคน ทำให้เราต้องเดินไปถามว่ามีขบวนเสด็จหรือเปล่า นายตำรวจก็บอกว่าเขามาซ้อมก่อนงานพระราชพิธีบรมราชาภิเษกนั่นเอง

รถเมล์จอดหน้าประตูที่เข้าวัดพระแก้ว เราจึงต้องเดินต่อไปอีกหนึ่งกิโล เดินผ่านกรมศิลปากรซึ่งเคยเป็นที่ตั้งของวังหน้าในอดีต สถานที่รอบๆสนามหลวงเคยเป็นเขตพระราชฐาน ต่อมามีการเปลี่ยนแปลงมากมาย ที่บางส่วนก็นำไปสร้าง มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ แต่ก็ยังมีประตูวังเก่าแก่ที่ทำด้วยไม้บานใหญ่มาก. ให้คนรุ่นหลังได้ดูเล่น ตามทางมีคนมาขายอาหารและเครื่องดื่มกันหลายอย่าง กว่าจะเดินถึงพิพิธภัณฑ์ก็เริ่มกระหายน้ำ แต่เราก็ได้ถ่ายรูปบรรยากาศรอบๆสนามหลวงไว้เป็นที่ระลึก
