Do you like the essence of horseradish? The vast majority like it or detest it. There are very few individuals falling between the two extremes. Notwithstanding, it is a plant that is sufficiently light to develop for individuals who like it.

To grow it, just dig a hole about a foot in diameter and about eight inches deep. Place the root at a 45-degree angle with the small end facing down, then fill the hole with earth and compost until the upper end is an inch or less below the surface.

Horseradish loves the sun and the earth must be emptied. Apart from this, it is a very robust plant that will grow in zones 2-8, which describe almost all the 48 American states.

The plant will be about two feet tall, but the roots are used. They are usually harvested after the first strong frost and the lateral roots can be harvested for the next harvest.

To prepare the skin of the roots of horseradish, cover the grill in a well-ventilated place, in a saucepan and barely with vinegar. An interesting thing about horseradish is that the more it rubs, the more points it has. This is because hot heat is released when the cells break. The more the cells are pierced, the more sharpened substances especially allyl sulfide are released. That's why the grated horseradish is not as spicy as the crushed horseradish.

In fact, the horseradish can be cut and cooked like a carrot and has almost no sting. The roots are very similar to carrots, except that the skin is brown, the flesh is whitish and the roots are larger than the carrots that are sold in most stores. However, it is necessary to ensure that no juice enters the eyes. It can really irritate the eyes and can cause the same reaction that causes the pepper spray.

Horseradish is rich in fiber, low in calories and contains antioxidants. It has proven to be useful in cancer prevention and control. The root is anti-inflammatory and diuretic. The prepared horseradish can be used to eliminate nasal congestion and is an excellent digestive stimulant. It is rich in vitamin C and contains decent quantities of potassium, manganese, copper, iron, magnesium, and zinc. Horseradish and honey are long-term cold treatments.

Horseradish is usually served with meat such as beef, venison, elk, bison or bear. It is also excellent when served with seafood. A popular seafood cocktail is prepared by mixing ketchup and horseradish, sometimes with a little lemon juice. The purchased version is much more expensive than the homemade cocktail sauce and does not taste like homemade sauce.
