@share2steem About To Target 3 BILLION Accounts

in #busy6 years ago

There is an interesting application that appeared a short time ago that was undergoing some more development.

Now, they are about to have a release of their updated version.

For those who are unaware, @share2steem is an application that reaches outside the Steem ecosystem in an effort to attract more users. It also provides Steemians who create content on some of the traditional social media sites a simple way to post.

This application works with YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram. Combined, those applications have over 3B accounts. If we take out duplicates, bot, and whatever else is in there, we still have well over 1B people using them. That is a significant market.

@share2steem takes the same post that is done on any of those sites and simultaneously puts it on the Steem blockchain. The only thing that is needed is to add the #share2steem to the post on any of those sites and it will be added. Of course, if something is done that is not desired to be on Steem, simply omit the hash tag.

Here is a nice tutorial:

The @share2steem team is rolling out their newest version of the application in a few days.

One of the nicest features is account management. This allows one to link as many accounts of the three sites mentions as desired. Many people have multiple YouTube or Instagram accounts since they were acquired over a number of years. This all can be done through the application and will feed into one Steem account.

Perhaps the 1B moved up to 2B now with all the duplicate accounts targeted.

The second update that looks like it would be appealing to content creators is post customization. With the newest version of the application, individuals will be able to customize the post before it is sent to Steem. This is helpful since one might want to add more to a Steem post versus what is being transmitted on the other sites. Instagram and Twitter, especially, focus upon short ideas. Since Steem tends to have longer posts, one might want to add more content.

It also helps smaller accounts a bit with the RC issue since the post is amended before it ever hits the blockchain, getting past having to use RC to edit the post.

I think this application has enormous potential since it is a time saver for those who use the other applications, especially YouTube. Video content creators had a few issues with posting on Steem since content tends not be kept. This means that those who are producing content that people want to view repeatedly are going to remain on YouTube.

Of course, there was always the option of creating a new post on Steem using one of the interfaces. Now, with this application, the process is streamlined enabling one to post directly from the application to the Steem blockchain.

This application reminds me a bit of @steempress which also directs content that is posted elsewhere onto the Steem blockchain. To me, the could have enormous value over time as the ecosystem grows. Many content creators tend to want to cross post to as many different sites to gain as much exposure as possible. Something like this aids in that process.

In looking at what YouTubers make, a difficult process, it appears that most make very little. From what I could gather, since the numbers do not seem to be readily published, that a decent YouTube account will net a few dollars a month. This means that even a small account on Steem can at least double the earning each month.

Not a bad deal for using the application and getting a bit of a following on here.

We already know the possibilities for photo sharing with Steepshot and APPICS. Now, we have the ability to attract some of the people without them having to switch applications. This opens up a much bigger market.

Starting a following from scratch can be tough. I like that @share2steem allows people to keep their existing following that they built up over the years while transitioning them to the Steem ecosystem. This could be a nice middle ground for a while until the idea of cryptocurrency reaches more of the masses.

I am looking forward to their release announcements and further updates telling us how it is going.

Since I do not use those other social media sites, it would be helpful for people to post their results with this application in the comment section.

As always, keep your eyes on the development, that is where the future of Steem lies.

Hi @taskmaster4450,

Thanks for spreading the word ! I'm Seb, co-creator of @share2steem app. @algo.coder is the (talented) developer.

We are about to announce v1 release, if nothing bad occurs until tomorrow. We are currently in the final testing phasis, and things look promising.

There will be many new features with this release. You talked about two of them, accounts management and posts customization. We can also talk about the leaderboard and the S2S score, which will define the voting value for people using our curation trail. This one will work 2 ways : classical trail, as we can find on Steemauto, and a pool trail, where the user decides how many votes he can offer each day for the trail.

We will continue the referral program, which will hopefully help recruit new users, and which will allow a referrer to earn 4% of his referral's gains (in this case we will reduce our fee of these 4%).

Finally, we don't want to stop here, as other networks are planned to integrate Share2Steem, in particular for blogs, regardless the plaform they use. More information about this soon.

Edit : just a note about engagement : we plan to make events to ensure people get involved into the community, with contests, games, etc.

Anyway thanks again for spreading the word, this kind of post is really helpful for us !

Regards, Seb.

Interesting. I'll be reading

@sebbl, it looks like you guys are getting traction. I see more and more people with a higher rep show interest. You guys are doing great!

I totally agree with you. I honestly believe this is the "killer" app that all platforms need to succeed. I'm already targeting instagram influencers and testing @share2steem

Aye, I think the same :)

I already used it sometimes in combination with instagram and it is working like a charm!

I totally agree with you that this is a huge chance to promote steem in the other centralised (ewww) networks and connect here and there with new people.

Awsome idea with an awsome usability and opportunity for us !

Good to know @tidfox.

That is the bet analysis; one from a user who has experience with it.

I am glad you are finding it to your satisfaction.

Hopefully others with those accounts will give it a try.

You can also check (but I'm sure you've already done this) the #share2steem tag, where you will find dozens of posts made with Instagram, Twitter and Youtube. Note @algo.coder worked hard this evening to improve Twitter posts look. You will be able to see it after v1 release on friday if everything is fine.

The worst that could theoretically follow from this is large numbers of people posting on mainstream sites to earn STEEM but who would never become members of the any Steem community but who'd only drain the pool. But I don't think that's going to happen. What I think will happen is that a fraction of the user base of YouTube, Twitter and Instagram create Steem accounts for themselves, post using the tag and check up on their Steem accounts from time to time becoming exposed to Steem communities and other apps in the process. Many of these people will realize the benefits of Steem as cryptocurrency with really handy wallets and as an ecosystem a large number of apps and websites are members of.

(Sorry about the shitty editing. Corrected a few errors.)

Very good point. I agree I guess that could happen in theory although we know their rewards would be low without interaction on here. Unless there was a large following that was brought over and they acquired STEEM.

Odds are there will be many that try it and a few will stick with it. As times goes by, perhaps those that stick with it also come across another application that catches their attention, even finding it elsewhere. Then they will see how it all ties in.

I agree that their rewards would be low without interaction on any Steem community. But it could potentially expose a lot of people to Steem which is always a great thing. It will be exciting to see what comes of this.

i also think that in general it will be good for Steem. People care about their feeds on whatever platform, and later posts can be edited and improved , or just selected photos sent. for different feeds/subjects.

This sounds like a great app. I mostly have my Twitter on autopost, but have been thinking I should start sharing some of my steemit content there. This actually would allow me to do it the other way around. Will take a look. Thanks for the heads up.
