HEY!! WE NEED ATTENTION!

Remember that NewSteem was and is an advertisement idea. A campaign, not a fix all things about Steem, but for a few days it was also a new lens, a chance to reimagine Steem with a revamped inflation pool. (no one calls it rewards anymore) A new fund for community projects, better scalability and our improved functionality of Scot Tokens and Tribes.

Like minded people can create, market and onboard for basically any idea they want. They can have the right to refuse service, or create a help desk. The options are unlimited... But the demand is not.

I've heard 765,998 ish ideas on what Steem is or what it should be... many of them could work. No matter if everyone agreed and we became new magic perfect Steem... No one is going to care if we don't get attention.

I can come up with a marketing idea, like NewSteem... but I am not that great at the polish.

I would think our target market could be social media users both in or out of crypto.
Our message to the crypto world is... Steem is not the old Steem, maybe they get curious and look again. I think it is important to keep in mind marketing should include the idea we are a bit rough around the edges.

No matter how great we are.. WE NEED ATTENTION. We need people to see and say our name.

We need a Stunt, We need a controversy, we need a hype release.

No one has any reason to come looking for us, we have to get our name out there.

We need attention!

How should we get it?

765,998 is an impossible and exaggerated number...it has too many zeros..😎

I think just some marketing at all would do the trick.

If you are viewing coinmarket cap website and click on the Announcement, it brings you to a BitcoinTalk.org page where most people call it a scam over the years. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1466593.0

If you view their twitter, up until recently they never really tweeted, and when they did got almost no interactions/likes/retweets. Lately they are doing better but they aren't using hashtags correctly(mainly using #steem and #steemit as tags which they should be using #cryptocurrency #socialmedia or something else to get engagement).

I noticed on Eli Powell's post that they are earning somewhere around 40k usd to 50k usd a month with ads, but if they just curated with their 31 million Steempower(that isn't even delegated to anyone so why is it powered up) then they could earn about that much a month in curation rewards. Its an easy funding source they already have powered up and aren't using.

Ned has gone on some tv shows and old school MSM networks before, but most people would have no idea what he is talking about so its kinda pointless to advertise to MSM crowd. Ned or some others should go onto cryptocurrency podcasts/talkshows or do a podcast/livestream with big youtubers who are part of the anti-censorship movement. I'm sure many of them would be interested.

They should have ads on reddit/twitter/facebook promoting how Steem is censorship resistant and the abilities of the video/livestreaming/gaming dapps built on it, 3 second blocktime, free transactions if you hold some network power, etc. Most people hang out in those 3 places and that's where the ad dollars should be spent.

The most obvious thing they should start doing right now is using curation rewards to fund advertising. I don't see why anyone would have issues with that, its a great way to use their curation rewards.

There isnt a need for users to power up their accounts beyond what is necessary to interact. Thats the reality of it, so I think its important to highlight that fact. I'm not sure what type of barriers to account creation exist now, and it was a point of contention before, but perhaps it makes sense to allow a front end user account that does not interact with the blockchain yet, but allows views. Doing so would generate ad dollars from unique hits. In addition to that, the front end account would be queued on the list for full account creation status.

One strong point to this suggestion would be that a normal password can be used, which is more familiar to people.

I understand that you dont need an account to view anything, which is the counterpoint, but atleast a user can start seeing the interface and generally get a feel for what can be done.

Right, there isn't almost any need currently for users to have much power. For gaming and posting a lot of comments there is. For posting a few blogs a week and 10 to 20 comments a week you need probably less than 15 or 20 Steempower. To game and do lots of actions on the blockchain you need a lot more than that.

SteemitINC isn't doing almost anything to advertise why people should use the blockchain, or for projects, or dapps, or videos, etc. They could easily make the price of Steem go up if they were organized and have lots of users coming in(that creates buy pressure). When people are buying Steem because they need it to interact more, that's what we need to drive the price up. Nobody really knows about Steem in the crypto world and that's the fault of SteemitINC for not advertising/going on podcasts to get the word out/being a presence on social media/etc.

A ragtag bunch of random users on Steem are not going to organize and start a huge advertising campaign. Everyone talks about doing it but they never do. Sad to say, JerryBanfield was really the only one doing that.

People are willing to pay for digital items when it comes to video games, so it makes sense for people to want to buy more SP to have more RCs.

But aside from gaming why would one need more RCs? (I'm talking out loud here, but at this point, why not. We're in pure discovery mode!)

Its all about performing transactions but for the average poster, it's not gonna matter because you don't need alot of SP to perform 99% of functions. But there needs to be a driver, or a higher cost to transact.... The cog is still spinning.

back when Ned was making the rounds on some TV shows we were still getting new users. Getting people like James Corbett and RT to talk about us was a win for a bit.

Now it is just radio silence about us out there.

Yeah, I dunno. Tried again today. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? ... HA!

Oh dude you forgot to do the seven push ups, man. You can't forget the seven push ups.

You do six pushups. Nobody will care... But the moment your crank out that seven...

It's moonshot buddy!

Holy smokes! I'm actually 2 days late responding! I'm slippin! ...I just found out about the seven pushups to the moon! Was living under a rock I guess. Found out the hard way so I tore a strip out of his ass and carried on my merry way.... to the moon!

Don't spread this but I'm going to start parodying the 777 pushups thing... All in good fun.

Already have a green screen and going to edit in stupid things known to be ridiculously heavy.

Today, kids I will be doing my 7 pushups with a Snorlax on my back.

Tomorrow, a 747 jet.

The next day, Thor's hammer.

Maybe throw in a supermassive blackhole.

And that's just my warm up, dude!

Dude. The moon. Do one with the moon.

Of course. It was so obvious. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Sure will!

I am looking forward to this parody with great anticipation.

I don’t just bug people until they instigate with me first, read my last post about looking for my next target to flag! lol u are nit even a wretch like me, u worse!

Ok then

You look like some kind of bidbot abuser yourself!

Did you forget to clinch your palms real tight and chant “I Think I Can”, a few several times? Lol

I forgot about that show!

Only the classics are allowed in New Steem lol

You commented on a comment once, you're cool!

haha. Well you should just keep doing what you do! :)

Imagine real people rather than shill accounts

Real content rather than posts about cryptos and Steem

And no "featured posts" (they seem to be gone today so I'm commenting again so long as they stay gone, but its featured posts or me)

If that is too radical, (actual content is pretty intense for "social media") just fill it up with porn and pictures of baboons arses - which would be a big improvement over the current content...

yeah, I agree

What is needed on Steem is an easy to use UI & UX. And an effective communication system from developers to users.

Bringing new people will be a mess. We need a fool-proof User Experience with a beautifully designed and functional User Interface that demystifies all the ins and outs of using this network.

Hell, Every time there's a new development is really difficult to keep up with, even for seasoned users. Which leads to countless explanation posts (which after all are only made with the purpose of getting upvotes from the developers).

If the goal is to grow this platform, first thing to do would be to make things dead easy for the non crypto savvy. In the end, this was made as a gateway coin for non crypto people, but if that is the purpose, it should be easy AF to use.

I've been here since september 2016 and there are countless things I still don't get. Why? because they are constantly changing, and the users are not being properly educated about those changes.

It's preposterous that whenever a change is implemented in the code, instead of us getting warning messages or educational popups, we have to rely on someone else's tutorial about it. And figure our way via trial and error.

If there's something to be learned from FB and TW and all those legacy social networks is the way they make it easy for the users to actually use the platforms.

The people I've onboarded, have dropped out pretty fast because it's simply too confusing and too difficult to use for the normal human being.

We are all geniuses here, let's make it easy for those who aren't.

A rebranding like this looks like an ostrich burying it's head on the ground when obvious issues are not solved beforehand.

I agree with the rebranding, but only after something's been done about the obvious problems the platform has.

#nodrama

While I agree with many of your points as goals I do not agree with all of them.

Once you get past the first 3 days with any UI you get used to it.

I totally agree the communication side of education is really tough. Also, too many use geek speak and get to technical for the average user.

Here's the thing, for example after 3 years someone pointed out to me that instead of clicking "sell" in order to exchange from SBD to STEEM, I had to click on 'Market' not to get slashed by blocktrades' fees... Three years... THREE YEARS!!!.

In any case if the UI was made in a way that my grandmother would be able to use it without prior knowledge, then I would say let's go on forward and rebrand it to bring normies to the platform.

Once again, don't get me wrong, I am with you on the #newsteem idea, but the only thing I would say needs to be done before is that what I mentioned above. The other things we can certainly 'overlook' (trolls, bullies, etc).

:)

We need a fool-proof User Experience with a beautifully designed and functional User Interface that demystifies all the ins and outs of using this network.

I believe that Steempeak is the best user interface going right now with eSteem Desktop running a close second. Steem Keychain is also a useful plugin that I use. Helps to simplify the whole private keys deal. I have downloaded Partiko on my IPhone at the recommendation of one of my witnesses.

There are alternatives to STINC's user interface, which I am sure you are aware. Kudos to the developers of #partiko, #steempeak, and #eSteem and #steemkeychain!

Appreciate your candor and thoughts on #newsteem topics. Here is a Token of my appreciation for sharing your observations...

SHADE COMING

Hi greencross the SHADE tokens are on the way.
Thanks for sharing SHADE
To view or Trade SHADE visit steem-engine.com

run naked in the streets with a sign?

It would be better than nothing.

Practical, well we need an ass-ton of invite tokens handy so we can have free accounts on hand and then go HAM on YouTube and Facebook ads before they block or restrict it. It will flood traffic but conversion will be low even with free accounts because that sign-up process is horrible, unfortunately

Big bang! I'd say you'd have to get someone who already has a pissed off at establishment crowd of watchers to migrate over to the system like Joe Rogan or Steven Crowder and sponsor his show or some shit

Yeah... that would take coordination and money.

Aren't we like the most used chain out there? We could start marketing with that? Meanwhile, some people think about THE THING, that is gaining a lot more attention than "the most used chain out there?" I mean this is already a big thing I think.

This is an extremely valid point.

Getting rewarded with money for being a part of and contributing through upvotes and ideas was only reason I ever came. The only reason anyone I knew came. Maybe we need to get back to what worked. Lets go back to OldSteem
