It was that gloomy Tuesday midnight as we decided to travel from Cavite to Ilocos. It took us about more or less 10 hours of drive. Nothing is more excitement than a family roadtrip. On the noon of Tuesday, we finally reach our first destination which is Vigan, Ilocos Sur. We stayed the night so w could watch the lovely dancing water fountain show that dance through the rhythm of music that took 30 minutes. After that, lights off. On the next day, Wednesday, at around 5'o clock in the morning, we decided to took off and went to our next destination, which is the Saud Beach at Ilocos Norte. We stayed there for like hours and decided to roam around Ilocos Norte. Our first stop is the Bangui Windmills.

Bangui Wind Farm

Bangui Wind Farm is a wind farm in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
The wind farm uses 20 units of 70-metre (230 ft) high Vestas V82 1.65
MW wind turbines, arranged on a single row stretching along a
nine-kilometer shoreline off Bangui Bay, facing the West Philippine
Sea.

Phase I of the NorthWind power project in Bangui Bay consists of 15
wind turbines, each capable of producing electricity up to a maximum
capacity of 1.65 MW, for a total of 24.75 MW. The 15 on-shore turbines
are spaced 326 metres (1,070 ft) apart, each 70 metres (230 ft) high,
with 41 metres (135 ft) long blades, with a rotor diameter of 82
metres (269 ft) and a wind swept area of 5,281 square metres (56,840
sq ft).

Phase II, was completed on August 2008, and added 5 more wind turbines
with the same capacity, and brought the total capacity to 33 MW. All
20 turbines describes a graceful arc reflecting the shoreline of
Bangui Bay, facing the West Philippine Sea.

Trivia:

Did you know that Bangui Windmills are the biggest in Southeast Asia and one of a kind structures in the Philippines? It sells 40% electricity to Ilocos Norte and reduced the cost of energy consumption because its renewable. Take note, 50% of electricity consumption of SM Megamall (one of the largest malls in the Philippines) is whole energy consumption of Ilocos Norte, provincial wide.

Here is the original photo of me capturing the beauty of the giant windmills using my polaroid camera. (Unfortunately, I don't know where the picture is. lol) And also, I include some of my roadtrip pictures below. 😊
