In this fast-paced and manufacturing-driven world, it is not surprising to see the air being repeatedly polluted and we tend to ignore the dangerous effects on our health. According to a report by World Health Organization, “it is estimated that 1 in 8 deaths occurred as a result of air pollution.” It added, “air pollution is now the world’s largest single environmental health risk.” Is that surprising? Not at all!

If you live in a highly industrialized or urban area, you are at risk of contracting cancer. How is that so? Breathing in polluted air can introduce into your body cancer-causing agents like carcinogens. Air contamination has been heavily linked to lung cancer as well as bladder cancer.

Understandably, most people move to urban areas in search of work and other fulfillment. However, residing in an area with high level of air pollution increases your chance of developing cancer. Besides, automobile emissions put people at risk.

What Can You Do?

As much as possible, try to live in an area with clean air. Breathing in clean air can help prevent cancer and improve your health overall. Some people in different parts of the world often schedule regular vacation or spend the weekend in a serene environment. You may want to consider this as well if you presently work and live in an environment with polluted air.
