RE: Thailand Might Legalize Cannabis Next Week

in #cannabis6 years ago

I'd be interested to know as to whether Thailand has ever experienced the implications of excessive drug use akin to what China experienced during the opium crisis and the subsequent Opium Wars which resulted. I can see why a majority of Asia abhors drugs, they've had quite a negative history with it.

many more problems have been and continue to be fueled by alcohol, and yet we don't see them engage in a similar nonsensical war against personal choice and freedom to drink?

Thankfully, a growing number of people worldwide seem to be abandoning their misguided and propaganda-fueled fears surrounding drugs and are embracing at least cannabis for medicinal purposes if not recreational use. There is no reason that someone who could benefit medicinally from cannabis should be prevented from obtaining access, to violate such basic natural rights seems to push us in the direction of tyranny. We'd rather people suffer and live a lower quality of life, cage them or harm them? simply because we don't agree with their choice to consume a plant? silliness. The government has no business telling free people what they should and shouldn't do with their bodies.
