Something i have noticed quite a bit of late is the increased amount of American muscle cars on the road in Australia. This is something which has been considerably rare to see on the ozzy roads, the "drive side" and a number of other issues have presented problems attaining these vehicles in the past .

However, due to the fact that Australian car manufacturers have closed down their factories there has been a shift in the market. There is a huge gap that needs to be filled by the local manufacturers, this has been rather interesting as Holden and Ford have been the key players in this country for decades.

Australian police cars have always leaned on the two aforementioned manufacturers for the majority of their service vehicles. But now they will have no other option but to try and find another brand to fill their ranks.

While nothing has been set in stone there have been a variety of vehicles tested as the new front line police vehicles. Some of the contenders have been BMW, Mercedes, Chrysler, Volvo. However it seems that the new Kia Stinger will be what is set to replace the fleet moving forward.

Whichever way the market moves from this point will be interesting, it will mean that we see a variety of different vehicles on the road and being used in a number of capacities. This is great for the car enthusiast that has been wishing to drive the array of vehicles which were once so difficult to import, the can now be found and attained locally as we make the shift into a new era of automotive presence.

But the question is, what will happen to all the old fords (Falcon)and Holdens (Commodore) now that the factories have closed down? Will they increase in value as collector items? How long until the part availability dries up ? these and many more questions on the lips of Aussie muscle car enthusiasts in country at the moment.
